🐾 WINSTON IS HEADING HOME! 🐾

What a fantastic stay we’ve had with gorgeous Winston! 💛🐶

Winston joined us for a residential training stay to help him navigate that all-important adolescent stage — when the world suddenly becomes much more exciting and listening to your humans can sometimes slip down the priority list!

He’s worked incredibly hard, and it’s been brilliant watching his confidence, focus and maturity develop throughout his stay.

We’ve been working on:

✨ Strengthening his obedience foundations
✨ Improving his loose-lead walking
✨ Building a more reliable recall around distractions
✨ Developing focus and engagement
✨ Reducing barking and unnecessary vocalisation at home
✨ Building confidence in different situations
✨ Developing better boundaries and self-control
✨ Maintaining his existing good behaviours while helping him navigate adolescence

A big part of Winston’s stay has been teaching him that even when something exciting is happening, checking in, listening and making good choices still pays off

He’s made some fantastic progress and is becoming much better at staying engaged and responsive when distractions are around.

Residential training can be particularly valuable during adolescence. It gives us the opportunity to work consistently on everyday behaviours, introduce clear boundaries and routines, and give your dog the skills they need to make better choices — both at home and out on walks

Of course, the work doesn’t stop when they head home! We give owners the tools and guidance they need to continue building on their dog’s progress and turn those new skills into long-term habits.

Winston has been such a lovely, affectionate and fun young dog to have stay with us, and we’re incredibly proud of how far he’s come. 💛

Now it’s over to his family to keep up the great work!

Well done, Winston — you’ve been an absolute superstar! 🌟🐾

🐾 Labrador Puppy Training | Brontë’s 3 Week Residential Transformation 🐾

After three wonderful weeks of residential puppy training, gorgeous Brontë the Labrador is heading home! 💛🐶

Brontë arrived with us at just **8 weeks old**, right at the beginning of one of the most important developmental periods in a puppy’s life.

Our goal wasn't to create a perfectly trained puppy in three weeks. It was to give Brontë the very best possible start by introducing positive routines, building confidence and establishing the foundations her family can continue as she grows.

Over the last three weeks, we've focused on:

✨ Toilet training and establishing a reliable routine
✨ Crate training and learning to settle independently
✨ Early recall and engagement foundations
✨ Sit, down and basic puppy obedience
✨ Calmness and good manners around the home
✨ Positive experiences with different people and dogs
✨ Confidence around new sights, sounds and surfaces
✨ Exploring a variety of real-world environments

One of the most important parts of Brontë's stay has been **puppy socialisation**.

Socialisation isn't simply about letting a puppy meet as many people and dogs as possible.

It's about carefully introducing them to the world during this important developmental stage and helping them learn that new people, places, sounds, surfaces and experiences are nothing to worry about.

Brontë has taken everything in her stride. 🌍❤️

She's now:

✔ Made fantastic progress with toilet training
✔ Settling beautifully into her crate routine
✔ Building engagement and early obedience skills
✔ Growing in confidence around new experiences
✔ Developing positive habits around the home
✔ Learning how to explore the world calmly and confidently

Of course, Brontë is still a very young puppy and there is lots more learning ahead.

As she grows and eventually enters adolescence, her family's consistency will be incredibly important. But she now has some fantastic early foundations for them to continue building on at home.

Brontë has been an absolute joy to train. Her confidence, curiosity and gorgeous personality have completely stolen our hearts, and we're going to miss having her around! 💛

Well done, Brontë. We can't wait to watch you grow into an amazing adult Labrador. 🐾

🐾 Recall
🐾 Focus around distractions
🐾 Manners around people & dogs
🐾 Impulse control & boundaries

🐾 3 WEEKS OF TRAINING, PROGRESS & ONE VERY CLEVER COCKAPOO! 🎓🐶

Three weeks ago, gorgeous 9-month-old Libby joined us for a Residential Training Stay — and what a superstar she’s been! 🌟

Libby came to us needing extra support with her training when out and about. One of her biggest challenges was staying focused around exciting distractions, especially as she wasn’t interested in taking treats once she left the house.

Over the last three weeks, we’ve worked on:

🐾 Walking calmly to heel
🐾 Building a stronger, more reliable recall
🐾 Strengthening her obedience cues
🐾 Settling calmly in cafés and new environments
🐾 Listening and responding around distractions
🐾 Building confidence and better engagement with her handler

With consistency, the right approach and plenty of real-world practice, Libby has made fantastic progress. 🥰

What makes her story even more special is that Libby’s owners have been members of our Online Academy since the day she came home. They’d already invested so much time into her training, and her residential stay has given us the opportunity to build on those foundations with focused, hands-on training every single day.

Now it’s time for Libby to head home, show her family everything she’s learned and continue putting those new skills into practice. 🏡💕

✨ Could your dog benefit from a Residential Training Stay?

Our residential stays are ideal for owners who want dedicated, professional support to make meaningful progress with their dog’s training. From recall and lead walking to obedience, settling, confidence and working around distractions, we tailor the stay to your dog and the areas you need help with most.

🐾 DOES YOUR DOG FORGET YOU EXIST THE SECOND YOU STEP OUTSIDE?

At home, they listen beautifully. Then you head out for a walk and suddenly dogs, people, squirrels, smells and absolutely everything else are more interesting than you. 👀🐿️🐕

If that sounds familiar, our upcoming Dog Engagement Skills Workshop is for you!

📅 Saturday 26th September
⏰ 9:00am–10:30am
📍 Merrist Wood College, Guildford
🐾 With Mike Newland

The secret to better focus isn’t constantly calling your dog’s name or repeatedly asking them to look at you.

It’s teaching them that choosing YOU is rewarding 💜

During this fun, practical 90-minute workshop, Mike will show you engagement games you can use on everyday walks to help your dog:

✨ Naturally check in with you
✨ Choose you over distractions
✨ Become more motivated to train
✨ Build better focus around dogs, people and the environment
✨ Improve the foundations needed for reliable recall
✨ Make loose-lead walking easier
✨ Build a stronger connection with you

And these aren’t exercises you’ll only use in a training class. They’re simple games you can take straight out onto your real-life walks

Whether you’ve got an easily distracted puppy, a selective-hearing adolescent or an adult dog who thinks the rest of the world is far more exciting than you, engagement is one of the most valuable skills you can teach

🐶 Puppies, adolescents and adult dogs welcome

🐾 Peter is heading home! 💙

After an amazing three weeks with us, gorgeous Peter the Australian Labradoodle is heading home to his family for a little break before returning for one final training stay! 🐕‍🦺✨

Peter joined us to work through his Puppy and Bronze Assistance Dog Awards, building the early skills and foundations he’ll need as he progresses on his assistance dog journey , and he has done brilliantly!

He’s learned all of his new cues and, even better, he responds to them with so much enthusiasm. Peter genuinely loves his training and is always ready to get involved, which has made him an absolute pleasure to work with. 💙

Once those foundations were in place, we focused on generalising his training to lots of different environments, helping him understand that his cues still apply whether he’s training at home, out on a walk or surrounded by the sights, sounds and distractions of everyday life.

Peter has also made fantastic progress with his social skills. One of the benefits of residential training in a busy family environment is the amount of carefully controlled socialisation we can provide. With plenty of opportunities to practise around different dogs, people, children and everyday situations, Peter has been learning how to make good choices and stay responsive to his handler even when there are exciting things happening around him.

For such a young puppy, he has taken everything in his stride and we’re incredibly pleased with the progress he’s made.

Peter is now heading home for a week to enjoy some time with his family and practise everything he’s learned – but we haven’t quite finished with him yet!

He’ll be back with us again soon for a final short stay while his family enjoy a weekend break, giving us the perfect opportunity to reinforce everything he’s learned, build even more reliability and give his training one final push before he heads home for good.

🐾 Maltipoo Residential Dog Training | Bubbles’ 2 Week Recall & Confidence Stay 🐾

Meet Bubbles the Maltipoo, who has joined us for a 2-week residential dog training stay! 💕🐶

Bubbles is a lovely little girl, but there are a few everyday behaviours that her family would love some help with — and the biggest priority is **recall**.

At the moment, getting Bubbles to come back when called can be challenging, particularly when something else has captured her attention.

This includes:

🐾 Recall on walks
🐾 Coming away from exciting distractions
🐾 Reliable recall in the garden
🐾 Coming back inside when called
🐾 Disengaging from barking and patrolling the garden

Rather than simply repeating her recall cue and hoping she eventually responds, we'll be working on making coming back to her handler genuinely rewarding, building engagement and gradually increasing the level of distraction as her reliability improves.

Another important focus during Bubbles' stay will be **confidence building**.

When Bubbles feels unsure, she can sometimes respond by growling or barking at people — particularly men — and occasionally at other dogs.

We'll be helping her feel more comfortable through carefully paced, positive experiences rather than forcing her into interactions she isn't ready for.

Over the next two weeks, we'll be working on:

✨ Building a strong, positive recall
✨ Recall away from distractions
✨ Disengaging from barking in the garden
✨ Improving focus and engagement with her handler
✨ Confidence-building around unfamiliar people
✨ Helping her feel more comfortable around men
✨ Calm behaviour around other dogs
✨ Teaching her alternative choices when she's feeling unsure

For Bubbles, success isn't about making her interact with everyone she meets. It's about helping her feel safer and more confident while teaching her that she can look to her handler for guidance when she's unsure.

We're looking forward to seeing how much progress this gorgeous little Maltipoo can make over the next two weeks. 💕🐾

Follow Bubbles' residential training journey to see how she gets on!

Your puppy’s first walk is a BIG deal 🥹🐾

For us, those first few walks aren’t about perfect lead walking or how far we can go.

They’re about giving puppies time to explore, sniff, watch, listen and take in their brand-new world 💛

We want to build confidence first — introducing new sights, sounds, surfaces, people and environments without overwhelming them.

There will be plenty of time for heelwork and obedience later!

This gorgeous little Shih Tzu is taking her very first steps into the big wide world 🐶✨

🐾 Looking for help giving your puppy the best possible start? Our Puppy Residential Training stays cover everything from confidence and socialisation to recall, lead walking, settling, toilet training and everyday manners.

🐾 WELCOME BACK, DAISY! 💛

Look who’s back! Gorgeous Daisy, a 1-year-old Golden Retriever, has returned to us — this time for an intensive 6-week residential training stay, alongside Lily from the same household. 🐶🐾

Having worked with Daisy before, it’s lovely to have her back and be able to build on her previous training. Over the next six weeks, we’ll be focusing on taking those skills further and developing much more reliability in everyday life.

We’ll be working on:

✨ Recall & emergency stop
✨ Loose-lead walking
✨ Leave it & impulse control
✨ Calm greetings without jumping up
✨ Better manners around visitors
✨ Reducing barking
✨ Confidence building
✨ Calmness around children
✨ Settling & switching off
✨ Making good choices around everyday distractions

With both Daisy and Lily living in the same home, we’ll also be able to work on the skills they need to live calmly together and around the family’s young child. 💛

Six weeks gives us plenty of time to move beyond simply teaching the skills and start building reliability in real-life situations.

Welcome back, Daisy! We’re excited to see what you can achieve this time. 🥰🐾
