Grace and Enzo tested our new balancer Daily Care and we would like to share their testimonial with you:

"Enzo is our 7-year-old super cob who has been fed on Thunderbrook Horse Feeds for the past five years. The Herbal Chaff has remained a consistent staple in his diet throughout this time.

In recent weeks, we have also introduced the Thunderbrook Daily Care Balancer to provide additional nutritional support. As a typical cob, Enzo is prone to mallenders, so we carefully monitor his diet to help manage his skin condition and overall wellbeing.

A natural, balanced feeding approach is a key part of keeping him comfortable, healthy, and performing at his best."

What does your horse need?
🌿 A healthy coat starts from within.

When we think about autumn coat change, it's easy to reach for a grooming brush or a shiny-coat supplement.

But the most important place to start is much simpler:

The diet.

Hair is made from protein, so your horse needs an adequate supply of quality protein and essential amino acids. Nutrients such as zinc and copper also play important roles in normal skin and coat health.

And where do we start?

🌾 Good-quality forage
⚖️ A balanced diet
💧 Plenty of fresh water
🌿 Appropriate vitamins and minerals

Before adding lots of extras, take a look at the foundations.

Because you can't brush good nutrition into a coat. 😉

🌙 Why is your horse already growing a winter coat?

It might still feel like summer to us, but your horse is paying attention to something completely different:

Daylight.

As the days become shorter, changes in light influence hormonal signals that tell the horse's body that the seasons are changing.

And so begins the autumn coat change. 🐴🍂

The timing and speed can vary between horses depending on factors such as age, health, environment and individual variation.

So don't worry if your horse starts shedding before their field mate—or seems to take forever to finish!

Nature doesn't work to an exact timetable.

🍂 The nights are drawing in… and your horse knows it.

You might not feel ready for autumn yet, but your horse's coat already knows what's coming.

As daylight hours begin to decrease, horses naturally start preparing for the colder months ahead. The old summer coat begins to loosen while the new coat gradually grows in.

It's a completely natural process—but it takes more than a little extra grooming.

Good forage, balanced nutrition, movement and a little extra care can all help your horse through this seasonal transition.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be sharing some simple tips for supporting your horse through coat change. 🌿

Because sometimes, working with nature is the best place to start.

💬 Have you noticed the first signs of coat change yet?

🌿 Meadow Nuts & Organic Meadow Nuts

What if you could bottle the goodness of a meadow?

Our Meadow Nuts are made from naturally diverse grasses and herbs, creating an easy-to-feed fibre source whenever fresh grazing isn't enough.

Looking for organic?

Our Organic Meadow Nuts are produced using organically grown grasses, offering the same simple, forage-first philosophy.

Because every horse deserves quality forage.

"This is Molly 🤎✨💫

She’s 6 and never fails to make me laugh every day with her incredible sense of humour 😂

She’s still actively growing due to her breeding, so getting her nutrition right is incredibly important… but she’s also rather fussy about what goes in her feed bucket 🙃

As she’s young and still developing (and had poor gut health when I got her), I’m really careful about what I feed her. I like to keep things as natural and uncomplicated as possible (if it doesn’t serve a purpose, it doesn’t go in.)

Alongside every day grazing and adlib hay, she has Healthy Herbal Chaff as a base for her daily supplements. I love that it’s just soft UK meadow grasses with calming tasty herbs and linseed oil. No molasses, no cereals, no unnecessary additives.

For a young horse who’s still developing, keeping her feed simple and supportive just feels like the right thing to do… her gut is happier and she eats it (🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼) so that makes me happy! 💚🌿"

What if your forage is low in protein? 💪📉

When we think about forage, sugar often gets all the attention—but protein quality is just as important.

Weather, soil conditions, grass maturity and the time of cutting can all influence the protein content of hay and grazing. If forage is lower in quality protein, horses may struggle to maintain topline, muscle condition or meet the demands of work and recovery.

That's where Daily Synergy comes in.
https://ow.ly/r03l50ZuVkJ

Unlike a negligible-calorie balancer, Daily Synergy is based on nutrient-rich rice bran, providing:
✔ Quality protein to complement forage
✔ Essential vitamins and minerals
✔ Live yeast to support digestive health
✔ Slow-release energy from fibre and oil

It's the ideal choice for horses that need a little more nutritional support alongside their forage—particularly if forage analysis shows lower protein levels or if maintaining condition is a priority.

🌿 Every feeding plan starts with forage. Understanding what's in it helps you choose the right balance for your horse.

💬 Have you ever had your hay analysed? We'd love to hear what you discovered.

Thunderbrook Gentle Gain isn’t just a conditioning feed – it’s a functional feed.

What does that mean? It provides benefits beyond basic nutrition.
Thanks to the combination of rice bran and sainfoin, Gentle Gain offers:

🌿 Prebiotic fibre for a healthy gut microbiome
🌿 Condensed tannins for better protein utilisation and reduced gas
🌿 Healthy fats for slow-release energy and condition support
🌿 Low Glycaemic Index to help manage blood sugar levels

This makes Gentle Gain ideal for horses needing support with weight, metabolism, gut health, or simply a smarter way to stay in top condition — without overstimulation.
