Eastfield Veterinary Clinic Eastfield Vets is a companion animal practice dedicated to providing the best health care possible in a warm and friendly environment.

Established in 1983 in former farm buildings, Eastfield Vets now has a second branch in Cleethorpes. There are nine vets, 17 veterinary nurses and many ancillary staff. The North Thoresby site underwent a major refurbishment which was completed in 2015. It is now an RCVS accredited Veterinary Hospital.

☀️We asked our team what their top tips are for keeping their pets cool in this hot weather!☀️

Try some of these tips with your pets and comment your pics below!🔥

❄️Invest in cooling matts for them to lay on.

🍎Give them frozen fruit and veg

🫐Make frozen yoghurt treats

🍉Put some fruit or treats into paddling pool or just into their water bowls. This is fun for them and keeps them hydrated!

🧊Place cool packs wrapped in a towel in small fury cages

🥒Give guinea pigs and rabbits plenty of fresh cucumber to keep them hydrated

🦮Walk them early morning or late in the evening when the weather is cool

🧊Make tuna ice cubes for cats! Freeze some tuna in spring water in an ice cube tray and then place it into their water bowl!

🚰Put extra water bowls around the house and garden to encourage them to drink more

🌫️Give them access to places in the house with cool flooring such as tiles and other hard flooring

🌱If you have fake grass make sure you pour water on it several times a day as it heats up very quick!

🪮Brush them! Excess fur can make them extremely hot

⚖️Keep them at a healthy weight. Overweight animals are very high at risk of heat stroke.

🚿 Set up sprinklers in the garden, fun for the pets at the children!

We would like to wish Peaslake a very happy 20th birthday today. 💕

Peaslake's owner kindly sent us a message, letting us know about his special connection to Eastfield:

"I just wanted to tell you about Peaslake who will have his 20th birthday on Monday 25th May. He was born on this day at Eastfield veterinary practice by emergency Caesarian section. All the other kittens were born naturally but he got stuck."

We were very touched to hear about the part we played in Peaslake's start in life (which was also a Bank Holiday Monday!) and so happy to hear that he has reached such a wonderful age - we hope he enjoys his special day. 🐾
