💔 In memory of beautiful Gelette 💔

I was so sad to hear that lovely Gelette has passed away.
One of the hardest parts of being a groomer is saying goodbye to the dogs who become such familiar little faces in the salon. You get to know their personalities, their little quirks and funny ways, and you genuinely grow very fond of them.
Gelette was such a beautiful little Westie, our lovely little French lady 🇫🇷🤍, and always such a special character to have in the Groom Room. I feel incredibly lucky to have been trusted to care for her and to have known her.
Sending so much love to her family at such a heartbreaking time. Losing a dog leaves such a huge space behind because they are never just a pet, they are family. ❤️
Sleep peacefully, beautiful Gelette. 🌈🐾
You will be very much missed. ###

🐱 Meet gorgeous Chester… and all that coat! 😳
Chester visited Emma’s Groom Room – Dog & Cat Grooming for a full feline deshedding and maintenance session, and I think the photos speak for themselves. 🧡
Cat grooming is still something many people don’t realise exists, or they assume it is only needed when a cat becomes badly matted. In reality, professional grooming can be incredibly beneficial, especially for long-haired, thick-coated and heavy-shedding cats.

Chester’s groom included:
🐾 A thorough brush and comb-out
🐾 Removal of loose, dead undercoat using specialist feline grooming tools and products
🐾 Careful mat removal
🐾 Hygiene trim
🐾 Nail clip
🐾 Ear clean
🐾 A final coat check and tidy

The huge pile beside him is not his healthy coat being removed — it is mostly loose, dead undercoat that was ready to come away. Removing this excess coat helps keep the remaining coat more manageable, reduces shedding around the home and, most importantly, helps prevent tangles and uncomfortable matting.
Cats have very delicate skin, so feline grooming is not just about brushing harder or getting the job done quickly. It is about knowing which tools to use, how to use them safely, and understanding when a cat needs a gentle, careful approach.
Every cat is different, so their body language, comfort and tolerance are always monitored throughout the groom. My priority is always to achieve as much as possible safely and kindly, without causing unnecessary stress. ❤️
Chester was an absolute superstar, and the results were so satisfying. He still has his beautiful natural coat, just without all that excess dead hair weighing him down.
Cat grooming is not just about appearance — it is about comfort, coat maintenance, hygiene and helping to prevent bigger problems later on.

Before 👉 after on little Poppet 🐾❤️

🐾 One of my favourite things about running Emma’s Groom Room – Dog & Cat Grooming is that no two days are ever the same. ❤️
One minute I might be grooming a tiny little dog, the next a giant bundle of fluff… then along comes one of my fabulous feline customers! 🐶🐱
I absolutely love working with animals of all shapes, sizes, breeds and personalities. Some march through the door like they own the place, some need a little extra reassurance, some never stop wagging their tails… and of course, the cats generally like to make sure I remember who is actually in charge. 😂
For me, grooming isn’t just about making them look lovely. It’s about getting to know each individual animal, helping them feel comfortable and building their trust over time. There’s something so rewarding about seeing a nervous pet become more confident with each visit. 🥰
So whether your four-legged family member is tiny, enormous, young, old, dog or cat, they’re very welcome here at Emma’s Groom Room. 🐾❤️

🐾 HAPPY INTERNATIONAL DOG DAY! 🐾❤️

Of course I had to use this photo of my girl Delilah, living her absolute best life on holiday in Wales. 🏞️🐶 I’m fairly sure she thought the entire holiday had been organised specifically for her… and to be fair, she probably wasn’t wrong. 😂
Dogs have been such a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I fell completely in love with them when I was about 4 years old and that was pretty much it for me. I can actually remember climbing into the dogs’ beds and falling asleep with them because apparently simply owning a dog wasn’t enough I needed to actually BE one of the dogs. 😂🐾

All these years later, I’ve somehow managed to turn that obsession into my job, and I still feel incredibly lucky that I get to spend my days surrounded by them.
Dogs really are something special. ❤️
They don’t care what you look like, how much money you have, whether the house is tidy or whether you’ve had the worst day imaginable. They're just happy that you came home.
They give us unconditional love, companionship, comfort, loyalty, laughter and a reason to get outside even when the British weather is doing its absolute worst. 😂☔ They sit beside us through heartbreak, illness, new babies, house moves, celebrations and ordinary Tuesday afternoons. They become part of our routines, our memories and ultimately, our families.
And somehow, despite us feeding them, walking them, paying their vet bills and picking up their poo every day… it still feels like we're the lucky ones. ❤️
Working with dogs has only made me appreciate them more. Every one has their own little personality, quirks and ways of showing love — even the ones who look at me like I've personally betrayed them when I turn the bath on. 😂🛁
So today is for all of them — the puppies, the golden oldies, the rescues, the pampered pooches, the working dogs, the little ones who think they're Rottweilers and the enormous ones who think they're lap dogs. 🐕🐾
Happy International Dog Day to our wonderful four-legged family members. The world really would be a much poorer place without them. ❤️

Everyone meet gorgeous puppy Cilla Black. She came to the salon for her first ever groom!
