Friday afternoon after the last pet has gone home means the salon gets a deep clean before I finish for the week 🪣🧼

Everything gets cleaned down, hair gets removed from all the places it has somehow managed to reach, then the table, bath, floors, surfaces and equipment are cleaned ready for Monday.

I have also recently invested in an ozone machine, which I run once the cleaning is finished and the salon is completely empty.
It is another step I can use as part of the deeper salon reset, particularly for helping with disinfecting areas i can't reach, but it does not replace actually cleaning and disinfecting everything properly first.

Nobody sees much of this side of running a grooming salon, but quite a lot happens after the last pet goes home.
...And then on Monday we begin covering everything in hair again.😆😆😆

Smoggy visited as she has been having a lot of hairballs lately, and I can see why! 😵 she will be feeling much lighter now and now all that hair isn't ending up in her belly 🥰

One of my favourite bits at the end of a cat groom is when the comb just glides through the coat like this.🤩🤩

Zeus’s coat is clean, properly separated and all the loose undercoat has been worked out, so I can comb right through from the skin without catching on knots or packed coat.

The shine is lovely, obviously, but that is not really what I am checking for. I want the coat moving freely and separating properly rather than clumping together, because that makes it much easier to maintain at home between grooming appointments.

For long haired cats especially, regular grooming and deshedding can make a big difference to how manageable the coat is before knots start getting established.

If you are finding your cat’s coat harder to keep on top of between appointments, mention it when you come in. We can look at whether a slightly shorter grooming schedule would keep it in this sort of condition more easily.
