Here at Faye's Canine Academy, I encourage owners to think about why their dog is behaving the way they are (whether that be good or bad) to further understand the needs of their dog. SUMMER HOOPERS WORKSHOPS 2026

WHAT IS HOOPERS for dogs? 🐶

Hoopers is a low-impact dog sport that focuses on speed, accuracy, and teamwork between the dog and handler.
It involves guiding the dog through a course of large, ground-level hoops, barrels, and tunnels.

Unlike agility, Hoopers does not include jumps or sharp turns, making it ideal for dogs of all ages, breeds, and physical abilities, including older dogs or those with joint issues.

Summer Hoopers - all dates available to book.

Why does my dog listen perfectly at home… then completely ignores me outside?” 👀🐶

Because your house is EASY mode.

Outside? There are smells, sounds, people, dogs, movement, wildlife, excitement, distractions everywhere — and your dog’s brain is trying to process it all at once.

Training doesn’t just magically transfer from the living room to the real world. Dogs need to practise skills in different environments before they truly understand them.

So if your dog ignores you outside, it doesn’t mean they’re stubborn or “naughty” — it usually means the environment is harder than the training level they’re currently at.

✅ Start in low distractions
✅ Build up gradually
✅ Reward engagement
✅ Keep training fun

Give your puppy the best start in life! Early training helps prevent bad habits, builds confidence, and strengthens your bond.

Starts Monday 20th July at 6:30pm - 7:25pm

📍 OUTDOORS in a fenced field at Macaulay Primary Academy, Macaulay St, Grimsby.

Your puppy will learn:
✅ Recall, loose lead walking, correct socialisation out in the real world.
✅ Stays, leave, manners, scent work, not to jump up, bed settle & much more

Today at Faye’s Canine Academy, our pups worked on boundary training — learning to settle calmly on their blanket 🧺✨

✅ Reward calm
✅ Keep sessions short
✅ Build up distractions slowly

❌ Don’t rush it
❌ Don’t repeat cues constantly
❌ Don’t expect them to “just grow out of it”

Calm dogs are created through consistency, guidance, and practice 💙
