“Prevention is better than cure” when it comes to sand ingestion and related problems 🐴
• Take extra care on sandy soil when grazing is sparse
• Avoid overstocking and overgrazing fields
• Avoid feeding hay from the floor if your horse is turned out in a field or in a sand manège
• Feed psyllium husk at regular intervals
• This is available in powder or pellet form (e.g. ColonAid, SandOut,SandAid) to add to feed
• Feed a generous amount in a format your horse is happy to eat, pellets, powders and husks are available
• This can be fed once a month for 7 days at a time, or all year round, speak to our vets for the best individual regime for your horse
