🎄‘Twas the end of Groom-mas and all through the shed,
Not a clipper was buzzing (I’ve gone to my bed).
The scissors are blunt(ish), my back’s had enough,
But every last pup is perfectly fluffed.
I’ve bathed them, I’ve dried them, I’ve hand-stripped with care,
I’ve worn more dog hair than clothes I’ll declare.
I’ve squeezed in “just one more”, then somehow ten more,
Because saying no when they need me is hard to ignore.
I’ve squeezed in the doodles, the terriers and spaniels too,
Every muddy adventurer, nervous soul and floofy pooch crew.
Each tail now twinkles, each coat sparkles bright,
All polished and ready for Santa Paws’ flight.
My heart is so full from the kindness you share,
The cards, gifts and thank-yous left me quite unaware
Of just how lucky I am to do what I do,
Caring for your fur babies and being trusted by you.
So as I hang up my apron and sweep up the floof,
I just want to say thank you — from ceiling to roof.
Have the most magical Christmas, both two-legged and four, And I’ll see you all soon when the scissors sing once more 🐾✨
