🐱 Minnie’s story: A**l prolapse following diarrhoea
Poor Minnie was brought to us after suffering from several days of diarrhoea, which had unfortunately resulted in an a**l prolapse.
An a**l prolapse occurs when the re**al tissue protrudes through the a**s. It can happen following repeated straining, often associated with diarrhoea, constipation or other conditions affecting the gastrointestinal tract. While it can look alarming, prompt veterinary treatment is important to prevent the exposed tissue from becoming damaged.
Minnie required surgical correction to carefully replace the pr*****ed tissue and secure it in place while it healed. Thankfully, she has recovered really well and her surgical site is healing nicely. 💕🐾
This case is also a reminder that persistent diarrhoea shouldn’t be ignored. If your pet has diarrhoea that lasts more than a day or two, is repeatedly straining, becomes unwell, or you notice any tissue protruding from the a**s, please contact your vet for advice.
We’re delighted with how well Minnie is doing! 🥰
