Looking after multiple dogs isn’t just more of the same… it’s about understanding each individual within the group 🐾

I’ve been supporting Paco, Maggie and Beef with drop ins and a walk, making sure each of them gets what they need while still keeping everything calm, structured, and manageable as a trio.

Group dynamics matter. Energy levels, personalities, and how they influence each other all play a role, so it’s never a one size fits all approach.

“Really reliable, the dogs loved her and she brought loads of extra bits to entertain them”

Enrichment is a big part of what I do, especially during drop ins. It’s not just about letting them out, it’s about giving them something to do, something to engage with, and helping them settle afterwards.

Three dogs, three personalities, one plan that works for all of them.

If you’ve got a multi dog household and need reliable support, you know where I am 🐾

Cats know where it’s coolest ☀️

When the weather warms up, you might notice your cat changing where they choose to settle.

Up high.
More stretched out.
Finding spots with airflow rather than tucked away corners.

It might seem counterintuitive, especially as we’re told hot air rises, but in a home environment, airflow often matters more than height.

Higher spaces like wardrobes or shelves can catch more movement in the air, and things like ceiling fans can really amplify that, creating a cooler, more comfortable spot.

That’s often what your cat is choosing.

You might also notice:
• More time spent stretched out rather than curled up
• Moving between resting spots more often
• Choosing harder, cooler surfaces over soft beds

It’s all part of how they regulate themselves.

A few simple ways to support them:
• Make sure they have access to higher, ventilated spots
• Keep fresh water available in multiple places
• Avoid overly warm, enclosed resting areas during hotter days

You don’t need to manage every detail, just give them options and let them choose.

Because when it comes to comfort, they’re usually one step ahead of us.

Save this as your spring and summer reminder ☀️🐾

Not every dog wants to say hello 🐕

“Don’t worry, they’re friendly!”

That might be true… but it doesn’t mean the other dog wants to interact.

Not every dog enjoys greetings. Some are nervous, in training, recovering, or simply prefer space. And even confident dogs don’t need to say hello to every dog they see.

Letting your dog run over “to be friendly” can:
• Cause stress or fear in the other dog
• Lead to unwanted or tense interactions
• Undo training and create frustration

Polite dog ownership looks like:
• Asking before approaching
• Giving space by default
• Calling your dog away when needed
• Respecting a no without taking it personally

A calm pass-by is often far more valuable than a forced greeting.

Dogs don’t need constant interaction, they need to feel safe, understood, and able to move through the world without pressure.

Neutrality is a skill, and it’s one worth building.

Save this for your next walk 🐾

Having someone step in to care for your pets, whether that’s regular walks or the occasional drop in, takes a lot of trust 🐾

I’ve been supporting Henry with his walks, as well as dropping in when needed, and he’s always such a pleasure to spend time with. Building that relationship over time means he knows exactly what to expect, and I know exactly what he needs to feel settled, happy, and engaged.

Alongside Henry, I also keep an eye on Cocoa the cat during visits, making sure both pets are comfortable and cared for in their own way.

“Henry loves Ellie and she does a brilliant job of looking after him; I’m 100% confident when I leave him with her that he will have a lovely time!”

That confidence is everything. Knowing your pets are not just looked after, but genuinely enjoying their time, makes all the difference.

Whether it’s regular walks or occasional support, it’s always about consistency, trust, and making sure each pet gets exactly what they need.

Indoor cats deserve safe outdoor time too 🌿🐈

Not every cat is suited to free roaming… but that doesn’t mean they have to miss out on the outdoors completely.

Fresh air, new scents, and natural stimulation can make a huge difference to your cat’s wellbeing. It’s about giving them access in a way that’s safe and controlled.

Options to explore:
• Secure garden setups like cat tents or enclosed “catios”
• Harness and lead training for gentle, supervised exploration
• Safe, enclosed garden time with close supervision

It’s not about suddenly giving full freedom, it’s about gradual exposure, building confidence, and making sure your cat feels secure every step of the way.

Some cats will take to it quickly, others need time. That’s okay.

The goal isn’t distance or duration, it’s positive experiences.

Outdoor access, done properly, can:
• Reduce boredom and frustration
• Provide mental enrichment
• Support more natural behaviours

And for you, peace of mind knowing they’re safe.

Not all cats need to roam freely to have a full, enriched life.

Save this if you’ve been thinking about giving your indoor cat a little more freedom 🐾

Hot weather update for the Leatherhead Donkey Derby & Dog Show ☀️

The organisers have made the decision to pause the dog and donkey elements today due to the heat, which is exactly the kind of welfare-first approach we want to see 💛

The good news is the event is still going ahead with fairground rides, stalls, and plenty to enjoy, so it’s still well worth coming down if you’re local.

I’ll still be there at stand 40 near the dog showing ring, so do come and say hello if you’re about 👋🏻

If you are heading over, make sure you’re looking after yourselves in the heat too, bring water, wear sunscreen, and take breaks in the shade where you can. I’d also recommend leaving dogs at home so they can stay cool and comfortable. Whilst I am canine first aid trained, I'd prefer not to need to use it! 🐾🌞

Looking forward to seeing some of you there ☀️

Me and Bonnie taking our mid walk pause time to enjoy the sounds of the birds. They are absolutely loving this heatwave and are making sure everyone can hear it ❤️🐦‍⬛🐦

*This walk was at a safe temp of 19°c at 8am this morning. The air was still cool and we took plenty of breaks throughout.
