"I have children, you won't rehome to me."
We rehomed Poppy a couple of years ago to a lovely family. Poppy always stands out in our minds as her adopters hadn’t been looking for a lurcher, but we knew Poppy was meant for family life. Here’s what her family have to say about how her life has been going:
Poppy is in fine fettle, she fits in so well and gets on brilliantly with the kids, even from the start. We often reflect on our route to adopting Poppy and in particular how after years of looking after staffie/staffie crosses we ended up with a lurcher and how brilliantly that worked out for us. They seem to me to be the most perfectly suited but underrated dogs for the modern busy family. Or maybe like us, people just don’t realise the joys of a lurcher?! She is the most delightful dog to look after, she’s easy going, impeccably well mannered with other dogs, she doesn’t bark, she doesn’t chew, she doesn’t moult, she’s great with kids and loves the other ‘family’ dogs she spends time with. She loves meeting other sight hounds and having a run around with them but if its bit wet outside she’s more than happy to stay home in the dry. If we go away, she stays very happily with my 84 year old father in law and he knows she only needs to go as far as he can manage. She can often be found at the school gate with me and enjoys the attention she gets. Kids love meeting her as do adults. I can take her anywhere confident she will behave. So all in all she is a wonderful family dog!
