Greyhound Trust Harvel - Croftview Kennels Greyhound Trust Harvel - Croftview Kennels Greyhound Rehoming Center. We care for and find loving new homes for retired greyhounds.

Run and managed by Cheryl Miller and supported by happy doggy enthusiasts Julie Simmons, Stacey Batt, Lee Leary and Cora Mitchard. Croftview Kennels is where the rehoming magic happens! We take in retired racing greyhounds and find them their forever homes. Nestled in the village of Harvel in Kent, we are easily accessible to Kent and the South East. Feel free to come along and meet our dogs, have a chat and go for walks. We have many wonderful volunteers who regularly visit us to take our dogs for walks but we are always happy to meet new people wanting to volunteer and help improve the lives of these beautiful and affectionate creatures.

⚠️⚠️💨PLEASE CHECK YOUR FENCES BEFORE LETTING THE HOUND OUT💨⚠️⚠️

With the strong winds yesterday evening don’t forget to check your fences and gates before letting the dog out!

We have a tree down in the car park and the lanes are full of debris. So please keep your dog safe and check your fences before letting them out for their morning wee. One check prevents a dog from going missing.

Public Service Announcement from Ginger, age 4:

The clocks go back one hour on Sunday 25th October.

Humans call it “an extra hour in bed.”
Greyhounds call it “WHY IS DINNER LATE?”

Please brace yourselves for seven days of theatrical sighs, pointed stares, dramatic flops, dinner-time negotiations, walk-time protests, and general hound-based chaos.

Daylight savings means nothing to a hound with a strict internal schedule.

Stay strong, hound servants.

Well… it’s only October 10th and it’s already begun.
We haven’t even reached Daylight Savings (Oct 25th), Halloween (Oct 31st), Guy Fawkes Night (Nov 5th) or Diwali (6–10 Nov) — and yet Firework Season has started early.

This is a gentle reminder for anyone with greyhounds who struggle with fireworks. Now is the time to get your safe spaces set up, make sure you’ve got calming aids stocked, and do any other pre‑firework prep your hound relies on.

If fireworks have already started in your area, you’ll be glad you were ready.
Let’s keep our sensitive souls feeling safe and supported through the noisy weeks ahead.

Visiting Greyhound Trust Harvel?

Please note that visits to Greyhound Trust Harvel are by appointment only.

Booking ahead helps our team plan their day around caring for the greyhounds, while making sure we’re available to give you the time and attention you need when you visit. 😊

If you’d like to come and see us, please call 01474 815273 in advance to arrange a suitable time.

Edit: Thank you for your comments. We’ve introduced an appointment system at Harvel so our small team can plan visits around the day-to-day care of the greyhounds and make sure someone is available to properly welcome and spend time with everyone who comes to see us.

Previously, visitors could arrive while the team were feeding, cleaning, exercising greyhounds or carrying out other essential duties, which sometimes meant we weren’t able to give people the time and attention we would like.

Harvel is still very much open and we’re always pleased to welcome visitors - we’re simply asking people to call ahead so we can arrange a suitable time. This applies whether you’re visiting to meet our greyhounds or looking at homing a greyhound.

Volunteers are still welcome to turn up to walk the hounds! 😊

We hope this will make visits better for everyone while allowing the team to keep the greyhounds as their priority. Thank you for your understanding. 💚

💚🐾 Could you volunteer with us at Greyhound Trust Harvel?

We’re looking to welcome some new volunteers to our team at Croftview Kennels!

There are lots of ways you could get involved, but we’re particularly looking for people who can help us with events and fundraising.

Whether you’re able to volunteer regularly or just lend a hand from time to time, every bit of support makes a huge difference to the greyhounds in our care. 😊

And this gorgeous girl is 5-year-old Biddy 🥰 She’s one of the lovely girls currently looking for her forever home here at Harvel. 🐾

If you’re local to the area and would like to find out more about volunteering with us, we’d love to hear from you:
