☀️🐾 Hot Weather Dog Walking Reminder 🐾☀️

As temperatures have risen, it’s important to remember that our dogs can overheat.

There are several things to think about:
🐕 Walk during the cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or late evening.
🐕 Check the pavement temperature with the back of your hand – if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for their paws.
🐕 Bring fresh water and offer regular drink breaks.
🐕 Stick to shaded routes where possible.
🐕 Watch for signs of overheating, including excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, or difficulty walking.

Sometimes the safest choice is a shorter walk, or no walk at all. Indoor or garden based enrichment instead of a long walk in the heat can be just as exciting.
