🐾🌾 Zoomies at Daedalus Common! 🌾🐾

Today's crew headed over to Daedalus Common for a good old run around the enclosed field... Gareth & Apollo had a rough 'n' tumbling good time 🤼‍♂️😂 charging about, play-fighting and generally causing chaos together. 🖤❤️ Standard.

Meanwhile, Bandit had other plans…

🌾 reappear looking delighted with himself
🌾 repeat
Very important Whippet business. 😂

After burning off some steam, we had a little decompression break — treats, cuddles and some calm chill-out time together in the field. 🥰 It's not all about running until everyone's brains fall out; learning to switch off and settle in exciting environments is part of the fun too. 🐾

Naturally, we also squeezed in a few poses for the camera 📸 — Gareth, Apollo AND Bandit all understood the assignment. 😍

Then it was back on our paws to finish off our walkies before heading home with three very happy doggos. ❤️

10/10 Walkies.

🌳🐾 Zoomies woodland adventure! 🐾🌳

Thursday was a bit of a milestone for our Athena… her first walk with FULL off-lead freedom! 🥹👏

And she absolutely smashed it. ❤️

After building up her confidence and recall, I finally took the plunge and unclipped that lead — and off she went with Bella, Bandit & Apollo to enjoy the woods properly with the rest of the Zoomies Crew.

I won't pretend we had military-grade recall 😂 — moderate across the board is probably a fair assessment! There's definitely still some work to do, but on the whole? Everyone was an absolute DREAM. 🥰

They explored, sniffed, ran, checked in, practised their recalls and somehow managed to behave like a respectable group of dogs for the vast majority of the walk. 👏🥹

(We even squeezed in a little training along the way!)

Yesterday, Athena decided that walking was merely her side hustle and what she really wanted to do was enter the hospitality industry. 😂

She found herself a suitable premises, set up shop behind the counter and waited patiently for her first customer…

Enter Bella. 🐶

Unfortunately, Athena's current menu consists of approximately three tiny bits of lamb tidbits, scattered across a picnic bench...

Bella: “Is… is that it?” 👀
Athena: “Yes. That'll be £14.95 please.” 💅

She then proceeded to eat half her own stock, lick the counter and eventually put her head down on the bar...

⭐ Location: excellent
⭐ Customer service: questionable
⭐ Portion sizes: appalling
⭐ Hygiene rating: we don't talk about that
⭐ Proprietor: EXTREMELY pleased with herself

No sibling rivalries!! No squabbling!!
Just happy, healthy play between the girls!

GO ON GIRLS! 💪🐾

Ball games, tug, zoomies, plenty of fuss… followed by Milly & Riley treating me to the full Slobber-Spa Facial experience. 👀 👅🧖‍♀️😂

Teeth cleaned.
Ears lubricated.
Face washed.
Right eyeball thoroughly attended to... 🤨

5 star service ... questionable technique ...

BUT... Honestly, just look at those faces. 🥹❤️

Drop-in visits aren’t just about letting dogs out for a wee — they’re company, play, enrichment, fuss and keeping them happy in their own home while their humans are out/away. 🐾

Fort Gilkicker = Fresh air, freedom & filthy paws — just how we like our Zoomies adventures! 🐾🌊

There was lots of playing, lots of sniff stops, lots of soggy paws and three VERY happy dogs. 🐶🐶🐶

Safe to say, nobody came home particularly clean… but they certainly had fun getting that way! 😂🤎

With Juliet at The Academy Of Modern Canine Behaviour And Training - Gosport Branch ♡

He did so well, he was advanced from foundation to Bronze straight away. We just need to get a handle on:

..& he'll pass 🤗 Not far off now!! 👏

He's already got:

🐾 Meet Martha — our newest Zoomies recruit… for one week only! 🐾

Martha is a gorgeous 11½-year-old Belgian Shepherd, and what an absolute delight she is! 🥹❤️

Today was Martha's trial walk; so rather than throwing her straight in with the whole gang, Bandit came along as our official Zoomies welcome committee while Martha and I got to know one another. 🐕🐾..& safe to say... she passed with flying colours. 🌟

Martha is SO easy-going and happily pottered along with Bandit like she'd been doing it forever, so she's an easy clear for some carefully matched group walkies with the rest of the Zoomies crew while she's with us. 🥰

We did, however, establish one VERY important Martha rule:

🎾 The ball is hers.

Can you have it? No.
Can you throw it? Also... no.
Will she carry it for the entire walk? Absolutely. 😂

It's less of a toy and more of an emotional support ball. 🥹
One which becomes increasingly slobbery until eventually you're accompanied through the woods by the gentle squelch, squelch, squelch coming from Martha's chops...

ASMR with a view, basically. 😂🌳🥎

She may only be joining the Zoomies pack for a week while her humans are away, but I think she's going to fit in just fine. ❤️

You'd be surprised how much these two can cram into half an hour... 😂

First things first — BONIOS. 🦴
Priorities, obviously.

Then it's outside for toilet duties 💩 before returning indoors for the customary quick bout of sibling rivalry. Because apparently that's essential enrichment. 🤺😂

After that, they separate into their specialist roles...

🐶 Milly: TUG. OF. WAR.
Again. And again. And again. 🎾🪢

🐶 Riley: Personal space? Never heard of it.
The second I sit on the sofa, she practically sits on my head and proceeds to lick me — and seemingly the entire cubic metre of air surrounding me. 👅🤣

Then somehow... our 30 minutes are up!
Bonios ✔️
Toilet Time✔️
Sibling scrap ✔️
Playtime ✔️
Cuddles ✔️
Personal boundaries thoroughly violated ✔️😂

We've come a LONG way since Day One…

🐶 Maggie — initially appointed herself Head of Security and barked at me accordingly.
Today? NOT A SINGLE BARK. 🥹
Well, until the front door goes or a car pulls up outside within too close a proximity of HER house 🤣
BUT, I've finally passed the background checks and been granted full clearance. 😂🙌 Thanks Mags ♡

🐶 Mabel — absolute sweetheart… but also apparently Lady of the Manor.

Madam has her own BELL by the back door which she rings when she'd like to go outside. 🔔

Except she doesn't always ring it when she actually needs the toilet.

Which means I've essentially spent the week employed as her personal butler.

"Would Madam care for the garden?" 🤵‍♀️
No?
Very good. I'll return shortly. 😂

🐈 Tabi — went from elusive ginger sofa-dweller to actually trusting me enough to come out, investigate and even tolerate a very brief cuddle. 🥹❤️

She and Mabel have also made some HUGE progress together these last couple of days, which has been genuinely lovely to watch. 🐶🤝🐈

🐈‍⬛ Panther — considerably less dramatic about the whole arrangement and happily made himself known. 😂❤️

And finally…

😼 Kit.

I was told there were three cats in this house.

I can personally verify the existence of two.

Kit has successfully completed the ENTIRE booking without being seen by the hired help. 👀🤣

At this stage, I'm going home with absolutely no proof Kit isn't just an elaborate family legend.

Perhaps next time. 😂

But genuinely, I've loved looking after this little lot. ❤️

One of the nicest parts of house sitting is getting to know everyone's individual quirks and watching that trust build day by day — particularly with the more nervous ones. 🥹

Thank you to their hoomans for trusting Zoomies with their furry family whilst they've been away. 🐾🏡❤️

Panther greeted me.
& Kit defeated me.

MABEL AND TABI ARE COEXISTING!
In. The. Same. Room. 😱🙀

No chasing.
No hissing.
No feline threats of grievous bodily harm.

Tabi has even allowed me to PICK HER UP! 🥹❤️
(I bribed her with treats and it didn't last long, but I feel PRIVILEGED). 🤗🥰😍

I am FLABBERGASTED. 🤯

Yesterday, Tabi was a “rare ginger cryptid” occasionally spotted emerging from behind furniture.

Today, she's feeling brave and trusting enough to come out and have a proper little nosey around — safe in the knowledge that I'll keep Mabel at bay long enough for her to scope out the garden via the locked cat flap.

PROGRESS, PEOPLE. PROGRESS. 👏🤣

At this rate... Kit might actually materialise before their humans come home!!!

Steady on though...Let's not get carried away. 🤣
