🚨 YOUR VET’S VACCINATION REMINDER JUST LANDED THROUGH THE DOOR… BUT HAVE YOU ACTUALLY STOPPED TO ASK WHY? 🚨

Unpopular opinion - and we know this one will ruffle a few feathers but we feel it’s an important discussion to have.

Why are we vaccinating our dogs year after year without questioning whether they actually need it?

At Merebrow Gundogs, we don’t vaccinate our own dogs.

Before anyone starts typing… no, that doesn’t mean we don’t care about them.

Quite the opposite.

We care enough to question things.

We don’t believe that “it’s what we’ve always done” is a good enough reason to repeatedly put something into our dogs’ bodies without understanding exactly why we’re doing it.

So we ask questions.

*What is the vaccine protecting against?
*How long does immunity last?
*Does every dog really need the same schedule?
*Should an adult dog’s vaccination requirements be considered individually?
*Are we sometimes vaccinating because it’s genuinely necessary — or simply because another year has passed?

And why is questioning vaccination so often treated as though you’re automatically irresponsible, anti-vet or don’t care about your dog?

Questioning something isn’t the same as being against it.

We are not veterinarians, and we’re not telling anyone else what to do with their dogs.

We fully respect that other owners will make different choices.

But we’ve researched the subject, we’ve questioned the routine approach and we have made our choice.

Our dogs aren’t vaccinated — and we’re comfortable with that.

We also believe responsible ownership means doing your own research and discussing your dog’s individual circumstances with a qualified veterinary professional rather than taking medical advice from Facebook — including from us.

Because ultimately…

🐾 Your dog isn’t a number on a vaccination reminder. They’re an individual.

So maybe it’s time we stopped automatically accepting:

“It’s time for their yearly vaccination.”

…and started asking:

“Why?”

PART-TIME / FULL TIME VETERINARY SURGEON
We’re looking for a confident Vet with 5+ years’ experience to join us on a part-time / full time basis.

🐾 Full clinical freedom to manage your cases from start to finish
🐾 Consultations, routine surgery & a team approach to sharing skills and experience
🐾 Some Saturday mornings, currently no OOH work

PART-TIME / FULL TIME REGISTERED VETERINARY NURSE (RVN)
We’re looking for a passionate and proactive RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.

This is a brilliant opportunity to make full use of your nursing skills, including:

🐾 Surgical nursing & anaesthesia monitoring
🐾 Inpatient care & patient management
🐾 Nurse clinics
🐾 In-house laboratory work
🐾 Some Saturday mornings, currently no OOH work
