Whilst I’ve been over in France, things have been ticking along nicely with my horses at home. Liv Craddock has been doing an awesome job of schooling them and my wonderful grooms have not only been looking after them exceptionally well, but also getting them out hacking, lunging, long reining, and all those good things that bring variety and longevity to our horses’ lives.

I’m now back to work in London after 13.5 months off on mat leave, it’s a big change 🙈 but it just shows that if you have the right people around you, you can have it all 🩵 I’ll definitely be looking forward to the days I get to ride each week, but I know that I have an amazing team supporting me and keeping the horses fit and healthy for me in the background 🤗 (and thank you to Kev for filling the mares and foals water up with the tractor in James’ absence, boys toys 🤭)

Well we’ve just made a very exciting order. This is a small glimpse of what we have on the way but we’re really excited about having a set of training jumps, a water tray, lunging wings, cavaletti and pole raisers to add to our ever improving facilities. I’ve had a lot of people wanting to hire the arena with jumps so once they arrive we’ll be able to start taking bookings for that 😁

Thank you to Solway Showjumps for liaising with me to create a great bundle of jumps, we’re so looking forward to them arriving and I know that we will be making another big order in the future when the new arena is done from Solway’s more bespoke range 🤭😍

Yesterday was a lesson with Leanne Wall on Uma (photos), today was a lesson with Ken Spencer on Dora (no photos) - they’re both coming on very nicely. I’m so very lucky to have these lovely horses ✨

Loving the efficiency here, the mares and foals only moved to their new field yesterday and their old field has already been topped and harrowed 🙌

All being well this field will now be rested until the broodmares foal down next year, hopefully by then it will be full of lush green grass (inevitably to then be ruined by a drought 🫣) for the mares and 2027 crop of foals to go out on ☺️

A foggy start at the farm this morning.

Mare and foal checks done and some particularly cute photos of JSA Stud’s Flora and Axel sharing their feed this morning ☺️

And off they go into their new field! Always nerve wracking but exciting moving the mares and foals from old to new fields but the fresh grass should keep them very busy!

The foals will now be acclimatising to their new field ready for weaning later this year but for now they’re enjoying a nice big field of green grass with their mums 🤗

The mares and foals are about to move to their new field (full of green grass and plenty of space) so the field they’ve been in is now getting a good topping and harrowing session. Whilst the topper may have a roller on it, the ground is still soooo hard, so we’ll have to venture out with the roller a bit later in the year once we’ve had some rain.

And I’ve been pulling old fencing out of another field - one of those fun type of jobs 🤪🫣

Video of mares and foals in their new field to come shortly 🐎

A different kind of horsepower as we carry out our regular checks of the turnout field boundaries and the condition of the hay fields.

We can’t quite believe how dry the ground is and how sunny it still is at the beginning of October!

P.S. a pretty snazzy delivery today 🤭

Wishing a happy birthday 🎂 to our super groom and livery, Charlotte Williams.

I wish we could say that Axel was your birthday present, but maybe some of his tail instead? Or perhaps the ear fluff? 😅😂
