Well we landed back from Canada on Wednesday morning but that didn’t stop us from going to Brantridge Park Equestrian for their BD show on Thursday morning. A nice test from Uma with a tired rider 😂

After a week of no riding to give my back as much of a chance to recover as possible, we braved the M25 and trundled off to Speedgate for the Area Festivals, having made the decision to not do the Regionals as I’m not riding enough to feel like I’d be competitive! Uma produced a nice test, and behaved well in a new arena, but struggled with the deep going so not a foot perfect test but a good day out on the whole 🙌

I think my favourite comment from today was from the lovely lady carrying out the tack checks - she took one look at my noseband and said “I don’t think I need to worry about that being too tight!”, which made me very happy given my horses’ welfare is always so important to me 😁🩵

Now to move back up a level at the end of the month with a trip to Brantridge Park to look forward to!

The all important basics! Ella is a just backed 4 year old and we’re working hard on her groundwork. Dora is coming back into work after over a year off so we’re taking it slowly and getting her muscled up and fitter with groundwork before getting on her, all under superb vet guidance from Simon 👌

First day in work for Dora for over a year, she might need a bigger girth 🙈 now to start the rehab process, get her back into full work and see how she copes!

It has to be said that James did an incredible job building the arena at Sparr Farm. It’s held up really well in this dry weather with no issues with it being deep. Every horse person can agree that it’s an absolute godsend being with someone that’s so good with the machines and able to manage our farms with such ease, including homegrown hay 🤩 JSA Farming

Our lovely 20m x 40m floodlit arena is available to hire. Non-wax surface. Post and rail. And amazingly it is not deep at all despite the dry weather! Plenty of parking available. Currently no jumps available but we are happy for people to use the arena to practice for gradings, free schooling, etc, due to the high fencing.

We would also consider letting people park at the farm to go out hacking if anyone is interested.
