Yesterday I posted all my insect photos; today's it's all about fungi ❀️ We're slowly approaching autumn, and I for one am extremely excited for the cool, damp freshness of a new season (hopefully autumn is more well-behaved than summer was!!). These are my photographic collection of mushrooms and toadstools from last year, and I look forward to illustrating the fungi of 2026 in a few weeks time πŸ„πŸ„β€πŸŸ« xx

One of the joys of dog walking and spending all day, every day in the countryside are the daily encounters I have with wildlife. This is the first of several posts documenting the beauty of nature.

Amongst my favourites are Edward the damselfly (I adore his happy face πŸ₯°), Brian the slow worm (I rescued him from a cat who was toying with him) and a beautiful Dragonfly, Esmeralda. The final photo depicts a gorgeous cormorant majestically drying his wings beside the river. I watched him for several minutes until the dogs got bored and insisted we continue the walk 🀣

In 2017 I lost Rhys, my best friend and my co-pilot. He was by my side all day, every day for 18 years - I was 18 when he was born and 36 when he died; he was with me for half of my whole life at that time. When he departed this realm I planted a magnolia tree on his grave, which flowered every year without fail and by 2020 was 5 feet tall. Earlier this year it vanished without a trace, for absolutely no reason we could fathom.

In the last month - during this insane drought and continuous heatwave, which has caused immense suffering and difficulties for most living things - it's sprung up and is regrowing from scratch, from absolutely nowhere.

I like to think it's a message from my Mr Man that there is still hope and life, vibrancy and verdancy to look forward to.

Love survives the harshest of conditions ❀️🌿✨ ###

SLEEPY COCONUT ❀️ Coconut's energy levels bely her tiny body; constantly on the go, always with a huge grin on her face I couldn't resist documenting the very rare occasions she had a little rest, recharging for her next adventure or treasure hunt πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°

COCONUT'S TREASURE πŸͺ™ One of Coconuts favourite activities when she comes to stay is treasure hunting. She loves nothing more than foraging in our garden and proudly presenting us with her special finds. She used to favour clods of soil, which shed then delightedly strew around the living room carpet. Recently however, she graduated onto hair scrunchies and other exciting objects. Her particular favourite this weekend was the lid of a pencil sharpener, which brought her hours of joy.

Our particular favourite however, was ... Coconut's coconut ❀️🀣πŸ₯₯ This treasure brought us even more joy than it did her πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ ###

We're so excited to welcome Cleo into the fold!! It's impossible to convey how tiny she is in real life; a 9 week old Italian Greyhound puppy, she's yet to receive her vaccinations so we're currently doing pop-in visits until she's old enough to start coming out on small walks, and eventually join the big dogs for group walks. Incredibly sparky and absolutely adorable - not to mention miniscule πŸ₯° - she's a joy to look after and has already stolen our hearts ❀️❀️❀️ ###
