Amy Thomson Dog Training

Amy Thomson Dog Training I am a dog trainer based at our own classroom in Cirencester but I also cover the surrounding areas Hi, I’m Amy.

I am a dog and puppy trainer based at my very own classroom on Love Lane in Cirencester but I also cover Cricklade, Swindon, Wootton Bassett, Malmesbury, Cirencester, South Cerney, Stroud, Tetbury and surrounding areas.I have a background in assistance dog training and working with families with children with additional needs. I have a degree in animal behaviour and welfare but I keep up to date w

ith current training methods through regularly attending courses ran by leading professionals in the field, sometimes literally in the field!I offer puppy socials, puppy training classes for puppies up to 5 months of age, subsequent follow on training classes, one to one classes for puppies and beyond, individually tailored one to one training for dogs of any age. I have specific training packages for loose lead walking skills and reactive dogs. Training is of course important, but so is you and your family’s relationship with your dog. Training should enhance this rather than jeopardise it.Training will focus on giving your dog the life skills they need to be part of the family using reward based, scientifically proven methods. My aim is to support you with whatever you would like to achieve or work on and to help your dog to understand the human world better and us theirs. Training should be accessible to all, while being kind and effective. Please visit my website for much more info, many thanks, Amy

Things you only say while on a dog walk....I'll go first...
'Leave the vomit alone,' 🤢

EDIT Later I had to explain to a fellow walker why my dog was walking weird...'lipstick malfunction due to soil debris' 😅😅😅

❌ MYTH: "Prescription pain relief will destroy my dog's liver and kidneys, so it’s safer to avoid medication and stick to natural alternatives."

✅ FACT: When prescribed and monitored under veterinary supervision, modern pain medications are safe, highly effective, and life-changing. Unmanaged chronic pain is far more dangerous to your dog’s welfare and longevity than properly managed medication.

While every pharmaceutical carries potential side effects, modern veterinary analgesics (such as NSAIDs and targeted monoclonal antibodies) undergo rigorous safety testing. Routine monitoring - such as baseline blood and urine panels every 6 to 12 months - allows your vet team to ensure medications are being metabolised safely and catch any subtle changes well before they become clinical issues.

Leaving joint pain unmanaged out of fear carries massive, hidden risks: severe muscle atrophy, persistent neuroplastic pain ("wind-up"), mobility loss, anxiety, and ultimately a drastically reduced quality of life.

High-quality supplements and lifestyle changes are fantastic supportive tools, but they cannot replace the targeted anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving power of prescription medication when chronic joint disease is present.

📔 Diary date: Sunday 11 October 2026 - Food Fairies Autumn 2026 Fun Dog Show 📔

So…… we’re running our very first independent Food Fairies Fun Dog Show in the Field of Fun & Freedom - Swindon - dog walking field for hire - yay!!!!! We’ll also be opening our charity shop, selling burgers and hotdogs plus homemade cakes. There will also be an awesome raffle to buy tickets for!

👉 Please pop the date in your diary 👈

We are looking for sponsors of each class at just £25. These can sponsored by individuals in memory of/in honour of loved ones including pets, on behalf of your company or just because you want to! There are 12 classes to sponsor and Best in Show is also available at £30 sponsorship.

Six classes already sponsored (🥳), eight still available:

Prettiest Girl - Athena Miniatures
Handsome Boy - Athena Miniatures
Working Dog - Mel
Class TBC (any except fancy dress) - Barney's Boarding
Golden Oldie - Chloe Louise Stewart
Class TBC - Jackie Dalton

We’re looking for donations of a selection of homemade cakes please and also bottles of booze and other raffle prizes.

The day will be used to raise much needed funds to build four enclosures for dogs to be safe and secure in pre- and post- sterilisation at Cris B’s clinic in Romania. These sterilisations reduce suffering and address the problem of dog overpopulation at the root cause.

More info will follow but please do share this post online. We’d like to make the day both memorable and a HUGE fundraiser!!!

Let’s do this lovely people…
