Boogie 🥰

🎉 What a day yesterday! 🎉

After a rather disappointing, premature end to our last event at Tweseldown 2 weeks ago, we continued with the plan of stepping up a level at Mendip Plains.

Boogie’s first 105 (in prep for his first Novice next weekend!). The Dressage test was the hardest he’s ever done and it’s not his favourite discipline! He gave it his best shot though and listened to me for a 33.3 score which I was pleased with for his first time at this level.

The showjumping track was big and tasty, but he jumped brilliantly. Just a little spook early on cost us a pole as we got in a bit deep to fence 2. The rest of the way clear 🐎

XC was a great course with some technical lines. Some of which I was a little worried about as we’re still working on straightness 🥴 But Boogie was an absolute DUDE, flying round clear inside the time 🥳

Finished in 9th position - delighted with a top 10 finish! Boogie, you are a star ⭐ 🎉

Thanks to LJP Performance and Rehab for coming out to support us, and the treatment on Wednesday which helped me to ride my best!

😎😎 Superstar Boogie was super cool at his first event of the season 😎😎

Double clear in the BE100 at Chard for a top 10 finish on his dressage score 🥳

We’re working on improving the Dressage still, it’s always been his hardest phase. Without the winter training we had initially planned, a 34.8 score was ok for his first run. We did have some 7.5s for his canter work 😂

Showjumping he jumped a fantastic clear, giving the poles plenty of room 🎉 we had a fab jump session with Georgie Goss Eventing this week which really helped.

And Cross Country he was just a dude! An easy clear inside the time 🐎 despite me being a little concerned at the trakehner early on the course. He took all of the combinations on confidently and jumped the step up to rail combo fabulously, where last year he was just lacking a bit of strength behind.

Can’t tell you how proud of him we are ❤️❤️

Boogie 🥰

Since (and including) his very first event at the beginning of 2024 this incredible boy has jumped clear XC at every single event - 80, 90 and 100 level 🎉🎉

No wonder I came out the start box with a smile on my face last weekend! 🙃☺️

Boogie, you are the best team mate I could wish for 💫

CVS Boogie Nights has now completed his second season of Eventing and still has a completely CLEAR Cross Country jumping record! 🎉🎉🎉🎉

I can’t tell you how proud I am. Of him; his progression, bravery and trainability in this phase. But also of how much confidence I have clearly given him throughout the start of his Eventing life.

Although I came from a strong SJ background, my Eventing career did not have the best of starts in the XC phase…in fact there were rather a lot of ‘E’s in my first season!

I’ve worked hard with Georgie Goss Eventing or rather she’s worked hard on my XC riding 😂 mainly on riding more forward to the fences, and trying to forget the fact that they don’t fall down!

It’s now quite possibly turned into my favourite phase 😉

🌬️A tad breezy for our regional final at Little Downham! 🌬️

Last weekend we made the (roughly) 4 hour trip to Little Downham for Boogie’s regional final and last event of the season.

I studied the weather forecast and came to the conclusion we’d be alright if we weren’t travelling in the high winds. We actually had a great journey there, despite having to leave the house at 3am 😆

On arrival we soon realised it was a lot windier than we expected! Without using it as an excuse, it definitely played a part in our dressage test 🙈 Boogie’s first time in a championship arena, with flower pots and TWO judges! He tried his best but received a slightly disappointing 35.

Showjumping went well but just touched a pole on a vertical. A real shame as he has been so careful with his jumping lately.

The cross country was a great course! With 3 different water complexes, 2 open ditches and lots of twisty combinations. Despite this, Boogie made it feel easy. In fact we were ahead of time by quite a way so I had to slow him down. Maybe slowed down too much with the more twisty latter part of the course though and we ended up going the other way 😂 A fab clear though, which I am so proud of 👏👏

Boogie finished 14th out of 41 in his section. Not quite good enough for a trip to Badminton grassroots next year, but good enough that we have finished the season with a smile 😊

Boogie 🥰

💫 Another top 10 finish for Boogie at 100! 💫

We decided to fit in a The PRB Horseboxes Cotswold Cup event to give us one more run before regionals. And thanks to the team at Cirencester Park for fitting us in!

It was actually a great idea because it was their championship weekend so a bigger atmosphere than we would usually get. Boogie wasn’t phased by any of that.

Didn’t leave quite as much warm up time for Dressage as I’d have liked but still did a nice test for 31.3.

A nice spooky show jump course helped him jump the best round he has done all season for a clean clear 👏👏

I wanted to take him for a steady round XC as we were using it for training purposes. But keeping the handbrake on meant a few sticky jumps early on, so I pushed him into a better rhythm and we finished well with a clear inside the time. 🐎

He is such a cool horse! And to think this is only his second season eventing (and he’s missed almost half of it due to hard ground etc)!

It was great to have my mum, sister and niece with us yesterday 😊 I think Maya showed a keen interest in eventing, basically grooming at her first event at the age of (almost) 2! 🤣

Missed you again Pauline Holcombe but I know you’re as proud of our boy as I am! And hopefully see you soon.

One more event left. And it’s only a regional final…where we could (possibly) qualify for Badminton grassroots… 🤪

Boogie 🥰

🏵️ CVS Boogie Nights ~ Double Clear and top 10 finish at Little Gatcombe 🏵️

He’s only done a handful of BE100’s and we haven’t been out eventing since the beginning of July.

32.3 Dressage which is definitely heading in the right direction 👏

A good clear showjumping ✅

And a super confident, clear XC 💥 our lesson with Georgie Goss Eventing on Thursday certainly paid off!

Finishing on our Dressage score for 7th place 🎉

I’m pleased to report that we stayed DRY, the weather was on our side 😁😁

And it was lovely to have our little support crew with us - Mum, Paula, Dad, Clare and Steffie THANK YOU 😘

Missing Pauline Holcombe who is currently on her hols but is as equally proud of our boy as I am! ❤️

Boogie ❤️

🐎 Last Friday we had our first event of the season! 🐎

The Cotswold Cup at Waverton House. Definitely one of my faves to start the season.

Boogie seemed to like it too for his debut appearance. Average Dressage, clear SJ and clear XC to finish 9th in his section 👏👏

We had a couple of time faults XC which dropped us down a few places, but actually for being a little quick 🙈 he was just in such a nice rhythm and felt super confident so I let him continue rather than putting the brakes on.

Pauline & I are so proud of him ⭐

We had a great training session at Oxstalls earlier in the week with Georgie Goss Eventing which filled us both with confidence to move him up a level next time out.

Big thank you to both my mum Maria and Dominic for giving up their day to support us.
