Please share to help find owners!

This male neutered cat "Dizzy" (as registered on microchip) was found in Coppers Edge and brought into our Abbeydale branch. He's likely had blood sampling recently as per a shaved patch on his neck.

We have tried to call all numbers on his microchip but no answer. We need to find his owners to collect him as soon as possible. Please call us on 01452 3000596.

Thanks!

🎆 Fireworks season is approaching! 🐶

If your dog struggles with fireworks, please plan ahead so we can help make the season as stress-free as possible.
💚 Mild anxiety: Speak to our reception team about Nutracalm, a natural calming supplement for pets who are stressed by loud noises. Ideally, this should be started around one month before fireworks begin to get the best chance of success.
💊 Severe anxiety: Some dogs may benefit from prescription anxiety medication. If your dog has not been examined by one of our vets within the last 3 months, they will need an appointment before medication can be prescribed. We also recommend trialling medication beforehand so we can make sure the dose is appropriate before firework night.
🩺 Not sure what your pet needs? You can book an appointment with one of our vets or nurses to discuss the options available.
Please don’t leave it until the fireworks start – contact us early so we can help you and your dog prepare. 🎆🐾

📢 Temporary changes to our opening hours

We wanted to let our clients know about some temporary changes to our opening hours over the coming weeks.

Like many veterinary practices, we are currently experiencing some short-term staffing challenges. To ensure we can continue to provide safe, high-quality care to our patients while supporting our teams, we will need to temporarily close our Stroud and Quedgeley branches on some dates.

📍 Stroud branch will be closed on:
• Friday 25 September
• Tuesday 29 September
• Friday 2 October
• Tuesday 6 October
• Thursday 8 October
• Monday 12 October
• Friday 16 October

📍 Quedgeley branch will be closed on:
•Thursday 24 September
• Monday 28 September
• Thursday 1 October
• Monday 5 October
• Friday 9 October
• Tuesday 13 October
• Thursday 15 October

Today (Thursday 24 September), Stroud will also be closed from 12:00pm–4:00pm to allow our teams to attend an important practice staff meeting at our Abbeydale branch.

These closures are temporary and are necessary to help us manage our current staffing levels safely and ensure that our teams are supported.

We really appreciate your patience and understanding during this period. ❤️
Your phone calls will go through to our other branches so we're always happy to speak to you, and could see you at our other branches if needed.

If you are planning to visit one of our branches, please call us beforehand to check our opening hours, particularly if you are making a special journey.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. 🐾

Please share to help us find owners!

We've had a young, 13 kg female fawn pug cross brought into our Quedgeley branch. She is wearing a pink harness, and was found on Haddon Hill Way.

She has a microchip but it hasn't been registered, so we are unable to contact the owners.

If you think she might be yours, please call us on 01452 722089.

Thanks!

Meet Chaos! He is a 3 year old cat who visited us for a cough and not eating for a few days. Whilst he was sedated they found that a very long piece of grass was stuck between the back of his throat and up his nose. Chaos is now doing better and is now eating.

☀️ Heatstroke Warning – Please Keep a Close Eye on Your Pets ☀️

With the unusually high temperatures we're experiencing, we've sadly seen a significant number of pets suffering from heatstroke over the last few days.

This is Winnie, a lovely 7-year-old Bulldog. ❤️ Despite her owners doing everything right – no walks in the heat, plenty of fresh water, and lots of cooling aids – Winnie still developed heatstroke. Unfortunately, brachycephalic (flat-faced) breeds, such as Bulldogs, Pugs, French Bulldogs, and Boxers, are much more susceptible because they cannot cool themselves as efficiently as other dogs.

Thankfully, Winnie received prompt veterinary treatment and is now doing well. 🐾

🚨 Please watch out for the signs of heatstroke:
• Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
• Drooling more than usual
• Bright red or very pale gums
• Lethargy, weakness or reluctance to move
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Confusion, wobbliness or collapse
• Seizures (in severe cases)

💧 How you can help prevent heatstroke:
• Avoid walking dogs during hot weather – even early mornings and evenings may still be too warm.
• Ensure constant access to fresh, cool water.
• Keep pets indoors or in shaded, well-ventilated areas.
• Use cooling mats, damp towels (never ice-cold water), fans or air conditioning where possible.
• Never leave pets in a parked car, even for a few minutes.
• Take extra care with flat-faced breeds, older pets, overweight pets, and those with heart or breathing conditions.

⚠️ If you think your pet may be suffering from heatstroke, don't wait. Move them somewhere cool, offer small amounts of water if they're able to drink, begin cooling them with cool (not ice-cold) water, and contact us immediately. Heatstroke is a medical emergency, and early treatment can save lives.

If you're ever unsure, we'd much rather you call us for advice than wait until it's too late.

Please help us keep all our furry friends safe during this hot weather by sharing this post. 🐶🐱💙

🐾Grass Seed season is here - a small seed can cause big problems 🌱

As the weather warms up, we're seeing more pets with painful grass seed injuries.

Grass seeds can easily become trapped in your dogs's:
🐾 Paws (especially between the toes)
👂 Ears
👀 Eyes
👃 Nose
🦴 Armpits and groin

Because of their pointed shape, they can burrow into the skin, causing infection, abscesses and some sometimes requiring surgery to remove.

⚠️ Watch out for signs:
▪️Excessive licking of a paw
▪️Limping
▪️Head shaking or scratching at the ears
▪️ Red, swollen or weeping skin
▪️ sudden sneezing or nose bleeds
▪️squinting or excessive eye watering

✅ How to prevent grass seed problems
▪️ Avoid long, dry grassy areas where possible
▪️ Check your dog thoroughly after every walk
▪️pay extra attention to paws, eyes, ears and long coats
▪️ keep fur neatly trimmed between toes and around the ears

If you notice any of these signs , don't wait. grass seeds rarely work their way out on their own, and early treatment can prevent more serious complications. If your concerned your pet may have a grass seed, contact your veterinary practice as soon as possible.

Please share this post to help keep more pets safe this summer! ❤️🐶😺

Meet Hattie the 1 year old Cockerpoo. She visited us today after her owners had noticed she was shaking her head and seemed to have a sore ear. Whilst Hattie was under general anaesthetic we discovered 3 Large grass seeds lodged in her ear which had caused some damage to her ear drum.

As grass seeds can be easily missed , we'd like to remind everyone to be extra vigilant at this time of year. If you've taken your dog for a walk, please check their paws, ears and coat for any grass seeds, as early detection can prevent serious problems.
