Sonic’s journey from chronic pain to a happy life again!
Sonic came to us in April with a history of right front leg lameness and a chronic, discharging wound around his shoulder. As a very special boy who had travelled from Jordan, his previous medical history was unfortunately unknown.
Working closely with his owner, we decided that a CT scan was the best way to investigate what was going on beneath the surface.
The CT revealed an old fracture of the humerus, together with a 13 mm sequestrum — a piece of dead bone that had become trapped within the area. This was contributing to Sonic’s ongoing infection and discomfort.
We surgically removed the dead bone and, following culture and sensitivity testing, selected an appropriate antibiotic specifically targeted at the infection.
Thankfully, Sonic responded beautifully to treatment.
Today, he has made an excellent recovery and is back to enjoying his happy, active life.
