Animals at Home

Animals at Home The UK's Long-Established Animal Care Company. Pet, animal care and pet transport services via professional pet carer franchised branches.

Dog walking, pet care, cat visits, dog boarding, pet taxi and animal ambulances. Welcome from Ann and Iain, co-managing directors. Animals at home is a pet care franchise company formed in 2003 to provide first class animal care services from franchised branches throughout the UK. Branches are small businesses owned by a pet carer franchisee. New franchisees receive industry-leading start-up, trai

ning, mentoring and ongoing support: from before they become an operational pet carer and right through their franchisee career. Animals at Home is owned by co-managing directors. Ann has vast experience in sales and franchising co-ordination, business and franchise start-up and new business owner mentoring; as well as being the former general manager of Animals at Home. Iain had early careers in military and civilian law enforcement but joined the company as a franchisee only two years after it was established. He later joined the management team as a trainer / mentor to new franchisees but that soon developed in to becoming the training, support and compliance manager. Iain still owns a very successful branch. Ann and Iain purchased the company in 2019 on the retirement of the founding directors. Their huge experience in the franchise industry and pet care industry with current 'hands-on' work, training, support and professional development means Animals at Home continues to grow and develop, and remains the premier animal care franchise company for the UK. A word from our wonderful franchisees. From a small pet to a smallholding we offer a variety of services based around your animals needs designed to make their lives more comfortable while you are away. If you are planning a holiday or business trip and do not want to put your pets into kennels or a cattery, then we can help. We can react to emergency situations 365 day's a year to assist all owners that require our services. We are fully insured and all our carers are security checked. We also provide Pet Taxi/Animal Ambulance that will collect your pets and transport them not only to the vets, dog parlour but also beyond. ๐Ÿถ Top 5 Quirky Dog Facts

๐Ÿพ Dogs can smell your feelings
Their incredible noses can detect chemical changes linked to emotions such as stress and fear.
๐Ÿ‘ƒ Every dog has a unique nose print
Just like human fingerprints, the pattern on a dogโ€™s nose is unique to them!

๐Ÿ’ค Dogs dream too
When you see your dog twitching, paddling their paws or making little noises in their sleep, they may be dreaming.

๐Ÿ• Basenjis don't really bark
This unusual breed produces a distinctive yodel-like sound called a "baroo" instead of a traditional bark.

๐Ÿงญ Dogs can use Earth's magnetic field
Research suggests dogs may be able to sense the Earth's magnetic field, potentially helping with orientation and navigation.

An animal ambulance is often a better choice than a standard taxi when transporting a pet because it is designed specifically around the needs, safety and comfort of animals.

๐Ÿพ Why choose an animal ambulance?
Animal-specific equipment ๐Ÿš‘
Designed with suitable cages, stretchers, restraints and protective equipment for transporting pets safely.

Safer for injured or unwell animals
A frightened, injured or poorly animal may need careful handling that a normal taxi simply isn't equipped for.

Trained animal handlers
Staff are more likely to understand animal behaviour and how to handle nervous, elderly, injured or distressed pets.

Reduced stress
The vehicle and journey can be set up to keep animals calm and secure, rather than expecting them to sit in a standard passenger seat or carrier.

Suitable for larger animals
Dogs that are too large, weak or injured to comfortably travel in a conventional car can often be accommodated more easily.

Hygiene and cleanliness
Animal ambulances can be cleaned and disinfected specifically for pet transportation, which is particularly important when transporting sick animals.

Emergency-friendly
If a pet needs urgent veterinary attention, an animal ambulance can provide a more appropriate and controlled way of getting them there.

Peace of mind for owners โค๏ธ
Owners know their pet is being transported by people who understand that an animal isn't simply another passenger.

For a dog that genuinely doesn't mind getting soggy, Labrador Retrievers are hard to beat! ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿ•
Other great rainy-walk breeds include:

Labrador Retriever: Water-loving, enthusiastic, and built for outdoor adventures.

Golden Retriever: Usually happy to splash through puddles.

Portuguese Water Dog: Rain is practically part of the job description.

Standard Poodle: Athletic and surprisingly fond of water.

Newfoundland: Loves water, though they're a lot of dog to towel-dry afterwards!

Irish Water Spaniel: A waterproof-coat specialist.

Border Terrier: Tough little outdoorsy dogs with weather-resistant coats.

Good job Fern and Pip can't read...as they haven't budged today, even with the back door open!!

If others are living your dream, why aren't you?
This is what Rachael our Sheffield franchise owner had to say after her first 6 months.

๐ŸŽ‰ 6 Months of Animals at Home Sheffield! ๐Ÿพ

Today, Animals at Home Sheffield turns 6 months old... and what a whirlwind it's been! Time really does fly when you're having fun.

If you'd told me a year ago that I'd be running a pet care business, I wouldn't have believed you. My background is in scientific research, so making the leap into a completely different industry after 20 years(!) was a huge decision and, if I'm honest, quite daunting.

But from the moment I started, I've never looked back.

Over the last six months I've had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful pets and their owners, and I'm incredibly grateful for every single client who has trusted me with their beloved companions. Your support, kind words, and recommendations have helped this little business grow far more quickly than I ever imagined.

It's been amazing to see more and more new clients joining us, and I can't wait to see what the next six months bring.

A huge ๐ŸŒŸ THANK YOU ๐ŸŒŸ to everyone who has supported Animals at Home Sheffield so far โ€“ whether you've booked with us, recommended us to a friend, or simply followed our journey. It really does mean the world.

Here's to the next chapter, more wagging tails, happy purrs, and plenty more adventures! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ˜บ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿ’š
