Next new recruit is Peggy who is an 11 month old Rottie x Bullmastiff x Bulldog..

Now she’s a sweetheart and generally well behaved and off lead she is very good and responds soon as called and is full of confidence. But that confidence dwindles when in new places, walking by busy roads and if someone else holds lead that isn’t her owners..

We had a lovely walk and talk about various things, and Peggy to be fair was fab.. I walked her she wasn’t as bad as we thought she would be which is a positive, we then walked alongside a busy road and again she was really good for nearly all of it bar two things that seemed to set her back..

Discussion around owners handling and confidence when walking her is the big factor because she trusts them entirely and will feed of their positivity … we will touch base in a few weeks see how she is

New recruits today and first up is Kitt who is an 18 month old Portuguese Podengo Pequeno.

He’s been with his new owner for about 4 and a half months but prior to this he’s had a rough time and it would appear he’s been beaten or struck due to some of the issues..

So he’s absolutely smitten with his owner but anyone else is a no go, he will nip and bite trousers, react to any sudden movements especially hands ( this makes us think he’s been struck) and on walks barks at other dogs and it sounds aggressive.

Lots of discussion and then we went out and started to work on how his owner manages him and tweaked it… he had a couple of blips then was away walking lovely, I even took the lead and he walked nicely by my side no trying to nip me etc..

Back at the house we started another process teaching him to be calm and listen.. it’s pigeon steps at the moment but today he showed he can learn and over time he will get better and better

New recruits today are Luna and Skye both 17 week old French bulldog x staffy x Sharpei pups..

Puppy visit today and lots of chat about good practises and things to work on or change.. dogs very alert and smart cookies, they love food so it should be straight forward but early days.. will see how they go over next few weeks

Next new recruits are Boo and Cooper.. initially we were only going to assist with cooper but as he did so well we helped work with boo as well..

Cooper sporadic reactivity on lead so as always we tweaked a few things and he was away literally trotting alongside his owner no issues at all..

Because of this we helped with Boo around barking at things outside and some mild jumping up.. in typical fashion we tried to see what happens but Boo decided he wanted to behave but we did look at jumping up and in no time it stopped and just cuddled..

Again repetition and consistency are key and will get an update in 7-10 days

New recruits today and first up was buzz a 5yr old cockerpoo.. generally a really nice dog and owners have done a good job but a couple of issues have arisen..

Mild reactivity towards one of the children in the home
Reactivity to some dogs on walks..

We talked as we walked about the issues and also saw a very well behaved buzz 🤣

We upped the anti and got one of mine out just so we could see if anything arises and it did, quick change of how he’s walked and boom he was away within a minute walking next to my dog, no issues and same again when owner handled him.

We discussed at length issues around the children and how to change this moving forward..

Repetition and consistency are key as always and will see how things are in 7-10 days
