🚨BTV is on the rise with 12 English and 1 Welsh case so far in July - vigilance is key and vaccination is imperative in controlling the spread - chat to the team tomorrow at the show about what to look for and vaccine plans. Funding is available for diagnostics in 3 affected animals 🚨

It’s exactly a week until The 3 Counties Show - come and see the team on Friday, Saturday and Sunday on stand 337 (Avenue G opposite MV Accredited sheep between Row 3 and 4). We’ll also be supporting the Future of Farming careers fair on Saturday at 4pm

Lorna’s latest surgery had a colourful edge to it 🎨

This lamb, now known as Benjamin Button, presented with an Aural Haematoma - when a pocket is formed in the ear flap the body struggles to get rid of the liquid or pus from damage or infection and just keeps filling it up. To resolve it, we need to drain away the liquid and then compress the dead space to stop it reforming - and the simplest way to do this is to add some buttons or drip tubing to our stitches across the space 🪡🧵

And doesn’t it look jolly smart and colourful

The sun even shone for our 2 lambing courses this past fortnight ☀️🐑

Vets Amy and Lorna ran two workshops covering all the theory of a successful lambing followed by practical workshops to practice delivering lambs, reorganising muddled lambs, IP glucose, docking and castrating and then opening up lambs to see the common causes of early death

Hopefully the sun continues to shine for the rest of our lambing season to bring the much needed grass for turnout 🤞🌱
