Mantrailing on Sunday at Astons Coaches with Worcester Search & Scent Dogs Ltd and it was quite warm and sunny! The morning teams of Bryn, Dixie, Oscar & Rufus loved the challenges and were really working as a team as handlers recognised body language and if they went wrong knew where they went wrong and went back, enabling the dog to find the trail again!

Great work and lots of laughs!

Night time mantrailing is getting easier to plan as we get closer to winter. It certainly felt like it last night as “normal” October temperatures had us all reaching for extra layers! 🥶

Teams Bryn, Luci, Olive and Rufus went through some fundamental trailing and practiced for their up coming assessments.

Unfortunately the camera in my phone did not survive the night and after dropping it and smashing the lens I didn’t get many pics ☹️🙈

Monday night, Scent Training ended up as a 2:1 session due to some late cancellations but team Flossy and team Rufus took full advantage of it!

We started the evening with some set pieces where the handlers were at a distance and the exercises were designed to make the dogs problem solve and think more independently whilst the handler watched their Behaviour.

We finished the night with a search of another part of the building which included a couple of high hides… great work guys!

Saturday afternoon and 4 teams enjoyed similar challenges around starts and indications… Teams Arlo, Flossi, Magni, and Stanley met the challenges head on … all teams enjoyed the trails set and excelled at every corner and either a standard indication or a walking trail-layer! Well done guys!

Saturday morning and it’s mantrailing all the way! This morning started with a 2:1 session with Team Dash and Team Rufus…

Both teams loved the challenges I set around “starts”and and we started the day with a 400m trail. The main test was a “casting start” which both teams smashed!!

It was perfect mantrailing weather and both teams excelled! Great work both!

Worcester Search & Scent Dogs Ltd resident dog Braith, recently managed to get his nose in action at a trial held by Pauline Whittaker Dog Training Behaviour and Scentwork in Worcester and although it wasn’t his best performance he managed to get the Reserve medal …. I’m very proud of him as we did not get any false calls and there were food distractions out…

My best boy!
