The University of Edinburgh Exmoor Pony Trekking is a student-run non-profit making organisation (all the money we make goes back into caring for the pon
ies, trek leaders are not paid). We cater for all levels of rider - whether you've never sat on a horse or whether you have ridden all your life, we guarantee you will have a fun time! The ponies are currently at Swanston farm, South Edinburgh. You can either drive or take the 15/4 midlothian bus from the city center. Find out more on how to get to us on our website. We offer 3 different types of treks:
Morning: 2-3 hour advanced/intermediate £35
Afternoon: 1-2 hour beginner/novice £25
Pootle: 30-45 minutes lead rein £15
If you would like to come out trekking more frequently we can offer you a membership costing £15, and this gives you £5 discount off every trek. Trek leaders are University of Edinburgh students who have taken a 1 year course to learn the ropes. They get taught first aid, pony first aid and how to take out a safe and enjoyable trek.
