I can't believe I'm writing this again so soon about another of my precious McMutts pups.

Today, we tragically lost Hamish to kidney failure. I was so thankful to his mum Stephanie for allowing me to be there to say goodbye.

Hamish was a character. A lovely placid, happy boy, but also a cheeky wee monkey who loved to wind up everyone who loved him. Very mischievous and would hide in the grass on his walks, (giving me a possible heart attack) only to pop his head up with a big grin on his face when I tempted him with treats to show himself. Every pick up day, his mum and I would joke about his attitude and whether he was going to behave himself today or not haha. We could always tell by his swagger what kinda of mood he was in that day. He was a much loved boy and had the life of a King as all dogs should have.

RIP our wee rascal. Give my love to all your friends up there waiting for you who I have also loved and lost over the years. This never gets easier.

Until we meet again monkey 💔

Love Auntie Mari and Uncle Ray ###

Hi Mums and Dads,

Just a wee reminder that the price increase comes into effect tomorrow.

Thanks,

We have a morning walk on tomorrow for those who missed their Monday walk or for anyone who fancies an extra walk.

With the weather forecast for rain, pick up times will be back to normal.

Here’s to all the dog walkers who have had to cancel walks this week.

To the ones living paycheck to paycheck, making the heartbreaking decision to put the welfare of the dogs first — even when rent is due, bills are piling up, and the food shop still needs paying for.

You are my heroes.

I feel incredibly lucky that my main outgoings are my vehicles, because I know for so many others, these weather extremes are hitting hard. And sadly, this is becoming our new normal — wet winters, unbearable spring and summer heat, one extreme after another.

Over the couple of years, so many new dog walkers have started their businesses, stepping into this industry at one of the toughest times imaginable.

The weather hasn’t just affected our income — it’s affected our mental health too. The stress, the uncertainty, the constant worry… it takes its toll.

And on top of all that, the cost of living has risen so dramatically.

Fuel costs, vehicle maintenance, insurance, food prices, rent, mortgages, utilities — everything has gone up, while many of us are earning less because of cancelled walks and unsafe temperatures.

It’s an exhausting balance trying to keep a business afloat while also trying to survive personally. For so many dog walkers, it feels like no matter how hard we work, we’re constantly trying to catch up.

But still, we keep going.

Why?

Because this is more than just a job to us. It’s a lifestyle. It’s a passion. It’s something we pour our whole hearts into every single day.

No matter the weather, no matter the setbacks, we continue showing up because we love these dogs like they’re our own.

So to every dog walker struggling quietly this week — I see you, I respect you, and I hope you’re proud of yourself for putting the dogs first, even when it costs you.

Hi all,

Tuesday and Wednesday mornings now full. If anyone has missed out, we still have a couple of spaces on Thursday and Friday mornings.

Also, it is not 100% that afternoon walks will be cancelled, but we are just putting the precautions in place. Assessments will be done on the day of the walk.

Thanks,

Mari

Hi Mums and Dads,

Van is now fixed and we are ready to rock and roll tomorrow..yayyy!!!

Due to the high temperature, it's likely that we will only be doing morning walks as it will be too hot and unsafe by the afternoon session.

If your dog is normally out in the afternoon, but you would like the morning instead, please let me know asap, as spaces are limited so it will be on a first come first served basis.

Thanks,

Mari
