The greasy horse and how to fix in a pickle.

This chap WAS bathed but not very well! Use your fingers or some form of currycomb to work right down to the skin to get that grease!

Anyways, what do we do in these cases?

1) Clip slow. Your blades may snag and will blunt faster. This can be uncomfortable for the horse so take your time to avoid this.

2) Rough clip. Get the hair off, dont try and make it perfect. It wont be when you are chomping through grease and the more u go over and push through, the more chance of skin irritation/dermatographia.

3) Cleanse. Hot cloth with something cleansing like dettol antiseptic or pro equine coolwash. This will strip the greass from the remainder of the coat to leave the hair clean for u to finish.
I do not recommend oil based products for this phase! Oil + grease = slime.

4) Reclip. Go back over all those bits thay were missed for a much better clip. It wont be perfect but itll be a lot better than it was!

4) One final wipe over to remove any stray short hairs from going back over with the clippers.
