🦜***WE ARE LOOKING FOR TEMPORARY AND EMERGENCY HOMES***🦜

Do you have the time, love and commitment needed to care for a parrot?

Do you know somebody who has the time or has lost a beloved parrot and is thinking of getting another feathered friend?

Parrots frequently come to us at very short notice - often as a result of their owner's illness or death - can you offer a bird in need a temporary home?
We offer full support to all our adopters.

We are looking for temporary and emergency homes – if this is you, we'd love to hear from you. Simply let us know on the application form.
Here is the link:
https://form.jotformeu.com/61183899427368

Enquiries about rehoming will only be considered upon completion of an adoption/safehouse application. We will not respond to correspondence on this page.
We are a small team of volunteers who also have day jobs - it can take us a few days to get back to you, so please be patient with us.
KINDLY NOTE: AS A SCOTTISH-BASED CHARITY, OUR RE-HOMING PROGRAMME COVERS SCOTLAND. WE CONSIDER APPLICATIONS FROM SCOTLAND ONLY AND DO NOT REHOME ANY OF OUR PARROTS OUTWITH SCOTLAND.

Binky Day is coming up, and we want to see you in action!

A binky is that joyful, high-energy jump rabbits do when they’re feeling happy and safe. You might see them spring into the air, twist mid-jump, or flick their head and ears. It’s one of the clearest signs you’ve got a contented bunny.

If you want to be included in our favourite binkies comment a video of your rabbits’ best binkies

We can’t wait to see those happy hops 🧡

**FREE FOOD FOR PARROTS**

Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) is a very common garden w**d - and also a superfood for your parrots!

Dandelions are well known for their benefits to liver health and their ability to remove toxins from the body.

With liver disease and liver-related ailments being so common in captive parrots, dandelions should be at or near the top of the list for healthy foods that can help combat and prevent a parrot from developing potentially fatal liver-related health problems, which can come about as a result of a poor diet and weight gain due to limited physical activity (lack of flying).

This is, of course, not an alternative to seeking veterinary advice and treatment – but including dandelion as part of the diet can only add to the overall liver health of any parrot.

Every bit of the plant is edible, including the roots, and birds who refuse the flowers will often love the leaves.

Even birds who don’t usually take to greens with much enthusiasm will often take an immediate interest in dandelions!

A couple of things to remember, though, as with all wild-sourced food, don’t pick them from the side of the road because of pollution from cars and dog widdles or from areas that have been sprayed with chemicals. 😎

Now is a great time to spot early emerging bumblebee queens 👑

👀 When you're out and about, watch for big insects flying slowly past or resting on the ground.

💤 Until they've established a nest, queens have no need to be too busy and can take their time.

🎶 Big bodies make a deep buzz. Listen out for queens feeding and moving steadily through the tops of flowering willow trees and on other spring flowers.

❄️ Having spent the winter hibernating underground, their fur appears thick and glossy.

📏 Bumblebee queens are larger than their worker daughters and males, sometimes reaching two or even three times the size of workers!

📅 Queens emerge from hibernation alone, so you won't mistake them for workers and males, who don't appear until later in the year. That is why now is a great time to spot queens!

Have you spotted a bumblebee queen this year?
