Wee Winston 8 years old. A beautiful wee dog who just needed the right training to thrive.
In a 121 session and just in 10 days intensive training we addressed. -

Aggression to the a newborn baby.
Severe seperation anxiety
Dog reactivity to all dogs
Leash walking and recall.

Winston could have lost his home of 8 years or life because fairytale trainers thought a bath mat and cheese would stop him trying to bite the baby at every turn.

Had a client recently that's dog was scratching and biting a gyproc wall in the home. Over a 9 month period they were told to distract and reward the dog every time it did it.

As expected the dog chained behaviours and learned to do it more not only to get the owners undivided attention but also a treat.
The behaviour just got more intense.

After receiving almost £750 from the couple, The same trainer then says the dog has anxiety issues and recommends a vet referral.

Thankfully the couple decided to check the dog twice then ignore it and it never touched the wall again.

The same trainer teaches a dog to scratch its front paws on a chopping board for treats to wear its nails down. 😁

They teach if you touch your paws on a bath mat we feed.

The dog ain't anxious, it just has more common sense than the trainer!

A Dog that once avoided or tried to bite everyone!

When people say aggression can never be fixed .

Probably because you're spending 4 weeks trying to fix it with leash corrections, prong collars or hotdogs.

Over the years we've helped loads of clients with dogs that were either stressed or aggressive to new born babies.
I've been in many houses where a dog wants to KILL a new born baby as it confuses it to be small prey. Three in the last 6 months alone!
This can be extremely stressful for owners or grandparents of the dog. As they don't want to re-home or euthanise their beloved pet.
I've been to houses where trainers have encouraged toddlers to feed dogs chunks of cheese while the dog is still intent on harm.

A few months ago I went to see very stressed parents of a new born baby that owned a tiny dog that was attempting to grab the baby at every turn.
They enlisted the help of a trainer who charged £400 pounds for two sessions. The trainers advice - Get a door mat and feed the dog hundreds of hotdogs on the mat once per day for two weeks and it will be fine with the baby. Not put the dog on a leash, not check the dog or use a crate for safety !
How dangerous was this advice!
After a week of fear and worry the parents just knew the information they were given was having no effect . The dog had to be removed from the family home.

No obedience or desensitisation can fix this . It's also a situation that can take 18 months to 2 years to completely resolve these issues. Hence why I always tell these clients not to post a review on my page despite the positive results.
I teach the dog avoidance of the baby . During this period, the once forward aggressive dog will stay away. We are far from fixed at this stage but safer . This then allows us to start to repair the dogs association with baby. Gradually healing the situation over time.

I have clients where the dog that once wanted to Kill the new born baby send me a picture of the 4 year old child holding that dogs leash on a walk.

No one can ever guarantee safety but to tell people that a bath mat and cheese will fix these issues is ridiculous beyond belief!

Dog has bitten multiple times, even put someone in the hospital. Client decides to muzzle the dog .

People go up to the client and say stuff like.

*Take its muzzle off and give him a break!

*That's cruel that putting a muzzle on him!

*Awk he doesn't need that ! That's shame.

* It's cruel to do that!

A few years ago a guy in a cafe pushed a client of mine to remove the muzzle from her dog saying all the same crap. Her dog then bit someone in the cafe and the same guy said - Aw didn't think it would do that! and left.

Moral of the story don't listen to people and tell them to mind their own business.

This 14 week old puppy was snapping and snarling at people when they tried to touch it. Without proper intervention it could have become a lifetime behaviour.

I can never promise to make these dogs 100% or guarantee they remain the same way. No one can , they are living sentient beings but I know I always make them better. Some complete turn arounds and others just more manageable.

Another example of an extremely human aggressive dog living a better safer life.

Results often depend on owners willing to invest time money and effort .

Wee Mustard😁😁

Mustard would take 40 minutes to walk a short distance around the block. He would wander and stop wherever he liked.
Picking and choosing when he wanted to go for a walk. Sometimes point blank refusing.
He was reactive to all dogs and had absolutely zero recall.

Previous trainers encouraged his owners to let him decide.
As a result Mustard viewed his owners as followers. He was the influencer and they were the followers.

This also caused Mustard the unwanted responsibility to look after his people.

No recall,Why would you return to someone who constantly follows you around?

Everything changed in just two sessions when I taught his humans how to lead the relationship.

Wee Mustard is so happy , free and confident now that he has faith in his owner's decisions.
