Thinking of including your dog in your wedding day? 🐾💍
As a pet chaperone, I love seeing couples involve their pups—but it’s not always the right fit for every dog (or every wedding). Here are a few important things to think about before making the call:
✨ Your dog’s temperament matters most
Not every dog enjoys crowds, strangers, noise, or long days. If your pup gets anxious or overly excited, the day could be very stressful for them. I will always prioritise your pet’s welfare, and if your dog is showing signs of stress, I will remove them from the situation.
📍 Check your venue rules
Even “dog-friendly” venues often have restrictions—especially indoors. Always confirm the details in advance.
👤 Who’s looking after your dog?
You’ll be busy! And so will your friends and family! A dedicated pet chaperone is always worth the investment.
⏰ Plan their timeline
Your dog doesn’t need to be there all day. Most couples include them for the ceremony or photos, then send them home before the party starts. Environments with loud music and drunk guests is no place for a dog! I don’t recommend any more than 2 hours at a wedding.
🎀 Prep and practice
Walking nicely on a lead, staying calm, and wearing any outfit should all be practiced beforehand—wedding day isn’t the time for surprises.
🐾 Muddy paws are sometimes unavoidable! I will always do my absolute best to ensure your dog is clean & well groomed for photos. But on a wet day, muddy paws can be unavoidable!
💡 Have a backup plan
Dogs are unpredictable and things don’t always go to plan. Sometimes the best decision on the day is to let your dog sit it out—and that’s okay.
At the end of the day, your wedding should be enjoyable for everyone—including your dog 🐶🤍
