Brittnee’s day off = the boys get their spa day with Aunty Caitlin 😹 Raglan had a teddy cut top-up (his third this spring/summer and it’s not even midway through June 🫠) and Mark got the full short-haired groom with a bath and wellness treatment! 😻

🚨 NEW TRAINING OPPORTUNITY AT PURR 🚨

One of the things we talk about a lot in grooming is confidence:

Confidence handling nervous cats.
Confidence communicating with owners.
Confidence making decisions under pressure.

But what about confidence in an emergency?

On 5th and 6th September, we’re excited to be hosting Bluebell Pet Care’s accredited Pet First Aid Training right here at PURR Glasgow!

Whether you’re a groomer, pet sitter, dog walker, trainer, veterinary receptionist, rescue volunteer, breeder, or simply someone who spends a lot of time around animals, first aid knowledge can make a huge difference when seconds matter.

PURR clients are welcome too, this isn’t just for groomers! If you share your life with animals and want to feel more prepared in an emergency, you’ll get a huge amount from this course.

🐾 CPR & choking response
🐾 Wound care & bleeding management
🐾 Poisoning, bites & stings
🐾 Seizures & shock
🐾 Heatstroke & hypothermia
🐾 Practical, hands-on learning
🐾 Accredited certification upon passing

We’ve been following Aubrey’s work for a while now and love her approach to teaching: practical, engaging, supportive, and designed to build real confidence rather than simply ticking a box.

There are two courses available:

📅 Saturday 5th September
Level 2 Pet First Aid

📅 Sunday 6th September
Advanced Feline First Aid

📍 Hosted at PURR Glasgow

If you’ve ever found yourself thinking “What would I do if something happened?” this is a fantastic opportunity to learn those skills in a supportive environment.

Places are limited and booking is through Bluebell Pet Care directly.

💜 We’d love to see more pet professionals across Scotland equipped with these skills.

🐾 SMALL BUSINESS WEEK | PART 7

Two and a half years ago, PURR was just me.

No team. No salon. Just a clunky Honda Accord, a bucket for tools and fur, and a LOT of caffeine.

I knew cat owners deserved something better than being an afterthought in an industry built primarily around dogs, but I had absolutely no idea whether anyone else would agree.

Fast forward to today and PURR has grown into Scotland’s first cat-only grooming salon, with an incredible team, thousands of appointments completed, and a community of cat people that continues to amaze me every single day.

And because of that support…

I’m so excited to officially announce PURR 2.0. 🎉

One of the lessons I’ve spoken about this week is that being busy isn’t the same as being successful. For me, success has never been about having the longest waiting list possible.

It’s about being able to help the cats who need us, when they need us.

Opening a second location means more appointments, more availability, more opportunities for talented cat groomers, and ultimately more cats receiving specialist care.

This is, without question, the biggest step we’ve taken since opening our Glasgow salon.

And yes… it’s absolutely terrifying 😅

Thank you to every client, supporter, follower, friend, family member, team member, and cat who helped make this possible.

PURR 2.0 starts here. ❤️

🐾 SMALL BUSINESS WEEK | PART 6

People often see the finished version of a business. What they don’t always see is the ordinary day-to-day life behind it all.

For me, today looked like:

☕ Coffee with friends and my husband.
🐱 Grooming cats with names like Taco, Nugget, Duchess, Luffy and Milo.
🩹 Being boundary-slapped by a Maine C**n and looking like I’ve spent my lunch break with vampires.
📸 Forgetting to take photos of quicker appointments.
🧴 Trying to keep my skin from staging a full-scale rebellion.
🚗 Driving between home and work.
🧹 Cleaning up endless amounts of cat hair.
🛁 Ending the day in a bubble bath prepared by the world’s most thoughtful husband.

None of it sounds particularly glamorous or exciting but I suppose that’s kind of the point. Most small businesses aren’t built in huge dramatic moments. They’re built in thousands of ordinary days where you show up, look after your customers, solve problems, learn as you go and do it all again tomorrow.

So this is what a Saturday looks like at PURR: a little bit chaotic, a LOT fluffy, and a wee mite exhausting 😅

I wouldn’t trade it for anything. ❤️

P.S. Tomorrow is the final day of the Small Business Week series… and I’ve got something exciting to share. 👀

🐾 SMALL BUSINESS WEEK | PART 5

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned as a business owner is that customers aren’t buying what you think they’re buying.

When I started PURR, I thought people were paying for cat grooming. And yes, technically that’s true.

But over time I realised most people aren’t really buying a groom:

They’re buying peace of mind.

They’re buying reassurance that their cat is being handled by somebody who understands feline behaviour.

They’re buying help when a matted coat has become overwhelming.

They’re buying confidence that if something doesn’t look quite right, somebody will notice.

They’re buying trust.

So if trust is the product, then every interaction matters. The booking process matters. The consultation matters. The follow-up message matters. The way we explain matting matters. The way we support nervous owners matters.

The groom is simply how we deliver the outcome. And I think that’s true for most businesses.

People don’t buy a drill because they want a drill. They buy a drill because they want a hole in the wall.

And they don’t book a cat groom because they love filling in booking forms and driving across Glasgow.

They book because they want a happy, healthy, comfortable cat.
