I love this illustration, I think it perfectly demonstrates why when we are training our dogs we have to break the behaviour down into as many small steps as possible and why we sometimes we arent making progress. There is a good chance we are asking for too much and need to break it down into smaller steps.

Had a really good 3rd session with this awsome little lady last night. Loads of good progress due to her owners hard work. Ruby gets over aroused other dogs and could be perceived as aggressive. We slowd things down, Ruby made loads of good choices even when a dog charged her with their flexie lead bouncing along behind them. Well done Ruby and Ash, keep up the good work.

Peanut butter for dogs. (palm oil)
I have recently been made aware that a lot of peanut butter contains palm oil. Palm oil isn't good for dogs. As I recommend peanut butter for a lot of things like muzzle training, lick mats and as a general training treat I thought I had better post to make any of my clients aware. Peanut butter is ok as long as it doesn't contain palm oil.
"While palm oil is not poisonous to dogs, it does have a laxative effect and, if eaten, can cause sickness, diarrhoea, dehydration and, in extreme cases, pancreatitis."

I had a 2nd session with Indi today. Indi is a rescue dog from the Underheugh Ark. We worked on loose lead walking. Loose lead walking is a skill that takes time for both owner and dog to master. The best way to train a dog or change a behaviour is slowly and you have to celebrate the small victories.

This is little Coco. An awsome wee dog that I had the pleasure of working with yesterday. He picked up the training super quick. Coco's owners communicate with him in Spanish and English. Consider this when working with your own dog if Coco's owners had communicated with me in Spanish I wouldn't have complied because I didn't understand. Its similar with our dogs we need to teach them the behaviour before we add the words.
