❗️Client Update regarding access to our premises today, Tues 16th June❗️

The local council will be carrying out footway resurfacing repairs directly outside our premises today.

The works are expected to cover an area at our vehicle access point. We have been advised that access will be maintained throughout the day, although there may be minor delays depending on the stage of the works being undertaken.

We will remain open and operating as normal.

If you are visiting us on Tuesday, please allow a little extra time for your journey and follow any temporary traffic management or directions from the onsite tea

Thank you for your patience and understanding while these essential improvements are carried out.

Alison is part of our friendly reception team who welcomes owners & pets when they visit us!

Alison’s favourite part of her job is meeting and chatting with our clients, and of course getting to know their wonderful pets! She loves building relationships with both owners and their pets, making every visit a welcoming experience.

When she’s not at work, Alison enjoys spending time in the garden, tackling DIY projects, and making the most of time with family and friends. Alison is also kept busy by her lovely Bull Mastiff cross, Reggie! 🐶

🐾 Meet the Team – Donna: Registered Veterinary Nurse 🐾

Donna first joined our team in 2010 as a Receptionist and Nurse Assistant before qualifying as a Veterinary Nurse in 2017.

After spending six years working in Wick, Donna started her family and returned to the Veterinary Centre in 2021. We’re delighted to have her back as part of the team!

Her favourite part of the job is meeting clients and their pets during nurse clinics. Donna particularly enjoys helping owners by offering advice, support, and education to ensure their pets receive the very best care. While she loves seeing all animals, she has a soft spot for rabbits!

When she’s not at work, Donna enjoys spending quality time with her family, gardening, and caring for her own pets (cat, Sadie & 3 rabbits, Clover, Dilly & Sage) 😻🐰

Veterinary nurses are at the heart of everything we do. From comforting pets and supporting owners to monitoring anaesthesia, assisting with procedures, running clinics, and providing expert care every day, their dedication makes a real difference to the lives of animals and their families.

Their compassion, skill, and commitment often happen behind the scenes, but they are an essential part of every patient’s journey.

Thank you to our veterinary nurses for your hard work, kindness, and the countless ways you help pets live happier, healthier lives.

As we head deeper into busy season, we’d like to ask everyone for a little patience and understanding 💚

At the moment, we are receiving around 200–300 calls every single day. We have one phone, a small team of 8 staff divided across 3 shifts, and often only one or two people working in the hospital at a time caring for the animals already in our care. We are also supported by a small but incredibly dedicated team of volunteers.

Right now, we are admitting around 30–40 animals per day. In the past month alone, we have had more admissions than we did in the first four months of 2026 combined. Alongside answering calls and messages, those animals all need feeding, medication, cleaning, monitoring, and treatment throughout the day.

Please call for advice before lifting or rescuing an animal unless it is obviously injured, unwell, or in immediate danger. Many of the calls we are receiving at the moment are regarding healthy fledgling birds, who are often best left where they are with their parents nearby.

If we advise that an animal does need help, we kindly ask that you bring it to us where possible. Our courier network receives many requests every day and is made up entirely of volunteers giving up their own time to help wildlife.

We always try our best to return missed calls, but during extremely busy periods this may not always be possible straight away. Thank you so much to everyone who supports us, cares about wildlife, and helps us help these animals 💚

No dog ever died from missing one walk🚨

If the pavement is too hot for your hand for five seconds, it's definitely too hot for paws. During the heatwave, stick to walks at dusk and dawn to avoid burnt paw pads and heatstroke, and if in doubt, don't go out.
