This gorgeous pup is entering adolescence and displaying some typical behaviour.
During adolescence, your dog's brain is still developing. You can expect inconsistent behaviour and, often, some poor decision making! Your young dog may test boundaries and some skills may appear to regress - such as recall and engagement. Keep up your training in environments that set your dog up for success.
Your dog's hormones are developing. You may see dips or increases in confidence levels. Watch out for fear phases and offer your dog support if you see signs of fear, no matter how insignificant the trigger appears to you.
Your dog's energy levels and exercise requirements are likely to increase. Ensure appropriate amounts of physical exercise are given and provide your dog with breed specific activities to perform.
The adolescent period will pass but it can be a really challenging time. If you would like support with your adolescent dog, DM me for information.

I got sent this clip from a concerned customer. I instantly thought... Kennel Cough! What signs did I recognise? A persistent, hacking cough, and white foamy phlegm. Advice? A phone call to the vet to discuss symptoms.
It's always a good idea to take a video of your dog's behaviour so that you can show this to your vet. If it is a mild case, it is likely to clear on its own with plenty of rest. Don't forget, this lowers your dog's immune system. If the vet suspects it is more serious, the dog may be prescribed antibiotics. If you suspect KC, you should let your vet know before you arrive at the surgery. Some vets may prefer to see your dog in the car park as KC is highly contagious.
KC is an airborne virus and can be picked up from other dogs through close contact, play or sharing toys or bowls.
Even if your dog has had a KC vaccination, they could still pick it up, but it is likely their symptoms will not be quite so severe.

What does your dog do when you leave them at home alone? Do they look forward to jumping onto your bed and having a nap?
Or...do they bark, pace, and scratch at the door until you get home? If it's the latter, your dog may have separation anxiety. This is a stressful condition that has a huge impact on your dog's welfare but also on your own life - not being able to see your friends, not being able to nip to the shops, maybe not being able to put the bins out.
I am a qualified Separation Anxiety Behaviour Specialist and I would love to help your dog learn to cope when home alone and help you to get your life back.
The training is remote, so it doesn't matter where you are, I can help. I follow ethical behaviour modification methods so there is no leaving your dog to cry it out!
If you would like information on separation anxiety treatment, please get in touch.
