Buddies Dog Home Boarding We offer boarding for small dogs within our family home, fully tailored to your pets' requirements. and our grown up children Donald and Katie.

My name is Pamela Jack and Buddies Dog Home Boarding is situated on a real working sheep farm of several hundred acres, at the foot of the rugged Campsie Fells. Your dog will be able to have extensive lead walks through our livestock fields, as well as off lead supervised playtime in our large country garden. Your dog will have their own overnight accommodation, with a selection of dog beds provid

ed, underfloor heating, a basket full of toys, and even their own television and radio. We use lavender oil diffusers to help calm and soothe worried guests, and of course snuggles and treats ( if allowed!)
I have several years of veterinary nursing experience from before my near three decades of NHS employment as a midwife, so you can be reassured that your dog will get the best care that I can provide. I'm not aiming to be the biggest, or the fanciest dog boarding establishment, just the best. I can offer tailored care for your dog's needs, built around your dog's usual daily routine. Your dog will share our family home with myself, farmer husband Gordon. We also have our own dog Russell Jack the Jack Russell, our cat Minty, and just over the fence are our horse and pony Clyde and Pearl. Buddies Dog Home Boarding is fully insured with Petplan Sanctuary. I hold a Diploma in Canine First Aid. I am licensed with North Lanarkshire Council for dog home boarding (HB/60/23). If you wish your dog to enjoy a stay with us, please contact me to arrange a "meet and greet" at the earliest available opportunity and ensure that you are happy with the facilities provided. I DO NOT accept bookings without ensuring that your dog is compatible with mine for the health and wellbeing of both parties. The earlier you book for a meet and greet the better, as you will then have time to book an alternative if our dogs can't get along and I am unable to accept your booking. Your dog must be-
Fully vaccinated including Kennel Cough
Microchipped
Wearing a collar with an up to to date identification tag with your details to comply with Control of Dogs Order 1992

Because of the rain this week these lovely boys have had more indoor playtime than is usual, but they still know how to have fun! They're such good friends and so close that I've noticed this week, without any intervention from me, they tend to pick similar toys to play with! The first time I noticed this they had a pig and a chicken toy, the second time a day or two later they both had green toys, and today it was all about the vegetables, with Russell opting for his plushy pumpkin dog and Glen rocking the soft squeaky broccoli! Coincidence? Possibly, but for them to do this consistently out of the myriad of toys we have available shows that they are indeed best buddies!

After a panic this afternoon when Facebook seemed to have an outage, I thought I'd be unable to post today's diary! How reliant we have become on social media for sharing all our stories!
We've had rain and sunshine, and now a cold wind, and more rain, it's been very changeable for these lovely boys, but they had fun this afternoon when we had a glimpse of blue sky peeking through the clouds! After getting wet out on our evening walk, the sun is now shining through the window, but thick clouds are gathering so I doubt the rain hasn't finished yet for today!

It's been wet most of the day here, thankfully the rain has now stopped and it gives us a bit of respite from the constant soakings in the garden or on our walks!
This afternoon while filling the horse water buckets both Russell and Glen ventured out with me, and as I stood in the garden, humming to myself and watching the buckets gradually fill, I could feel a prickling as if I was being watched, yes it was Glen lying in the wet grass and sizing me up! Russell of course had disappeared indoors, quite rightly as the rain was getting heavier again!
Our walk this evening was under a leaden sky, the grass underfoot soft and damp, and the sheep in the distance were huddled with their lambs, perhaps sensing more rain on the way.

We awoke this morning to warm, balmy sunshine, but by lunchtime the rain arrived and the downpours were heavy, the sort of rain that just drenches you to the skin! After lunch Glen, Russell and I went out to the garden as it looked fine and dry, well that didn't last long! As I filled up the horse water buckets the rain got heavier and heavier, Russell of course vanished indoors but Glen was happy to romp around the garden as I worked, such different boys but the best of friends!
As the dogs enjoyed some indoor playtime it all took on a farmyard theme, Glen with the pig oinking toy and Russell with his funky chicken! What a racket they made, almost outdone by the rain pouring down the windows!

What a change of weather compared to yesterday! Despite the intermittent dry spells, every time I've gone outdoors with Glen and Russell today the showers have swept in and we've all gotten wet! Our weather here in our wee valley hasn't been as bad as elsewhere in the country though, there have been some spectacular pictures of amazing cloud formations, heavy hailstorms, and lightning! I think we've been very lucky to miss all that here, but as we turned to head home after our evening walk I could see clouds building in the east and it's getting cooler, so I hope the thunderstorms aren't on their way!

A brief but heavy shower of rain this morning seemed to portend another drizzly day, but no! It brightened up considerably and we spent most of the day in the garden, enjoying a warm summer sun with a soothing cool breeze. As Glen and Russell played together, each in his own fashion, I could hear lapwing calling, soaring high above the treetops, their unusual sound ethereal and otherworldly! There were two of them and I wonder if it was a breeding pair, they swooped over the horses' field coming quite close to the garden at times, showing off somewhat for such shy birds!

What a miserable, drizzly wet day for Russell and Glen! Our outdoor time was somewhat curtailed as rain is kryptonite to Russell, but Glen was happy popping in and out to the garden, well until he realised that he was on his own! Poor Glen mooched about barely chasing his ball, under a duvet-like cover of thick grey clouds, picking his way through the grass thickly coated in sparkling raindrops.
But where was wee Russell? He was tucked up all cosy in his basket on the couch!

Our day has been dull and grey, but we've still had fun in the garden and on our walks! We strolled across the top of the field after tea tonight, and the grass was lush and damp with the evening drizzle, the sky dull enough to herald an early twilight song from the birds in the hedgerows, and amidst the sweet melodic song of the blackbirds was a harsh cawing from a solitary crow, hunched atop the telegraph pole at the end of our route, looking splendidly gothic against the dying light of the day! What should cruise across our scene but a magnificent heron, silently gliding in pursuit of a waterhole to hunt in,its elegant neck tucked in as it circled. I haven't seen any herons for such a long time now, what a treat for this part time birdwatcher! Glen and Russell of course completely oblivious, their attention captured by the various scents on the pasture!

Well we've just had the loveliest day with sweet Glen, apart from one heavy shower this morning it's been on the whole a fabulous day for these boys, not too hot, a nice cooling breeze, so plenty of outdoor time and plenty of laundry going out!
Fast forward to this evening and what a difference, it's dull and the clouds are building, but Glen and Russell enjoyed a walk in the field and we're now in the garden for them to burn off some steam!

Sweet Glen has returned to Buddies for his summer holiday, and he's trying to get Russell and me to join him in the gard...
