💫 Did you know I've got loads of stuff you can download for £0 from my website?

✨ Empowering owners with knowledge is one of my passions. When we know & understand things about our dogs, it helps us make decisions.

🧐 An issue in one part of the body can affect ALL of the body.
🦵 Hind conditions - such as hip dysplasia, arthritis - can change EVERYTHING.
🤔 What does this mean?
🙁 This leads to muscles becoming painful and overworked, in all the wrong places.
But what can be done? Lots!

🌟 In young dogs, building strength & helping to develop good postural strength is important, while preventing and treating any pain that they may experience.
🌟 For older we need to make sure we control the pain and inflammation they experience, while helping them to rebuild the muscle they have lost over time.

🐾 PROUD MOMENT 🐾 This chap can be nervous which makes this even more rewarding. Being able to get safely on and off the sofa was really important to him. So we built a physio plan to exactly that! Win win! X dogs

☀️ HOT WEATHER TOP TIPS FOR DOGS ☀️

🥵 If you're in the UK ... you don't need me to tell you it is HOT!! And hopefully you know extreme temperatures can be very challenging for our furry friends.

A few things I thought I would share for some inspiration!

🐾 It's OK to NOT walk your dog .... or if you do .....
🌲 Walk really early morning ...... I personally find some evenings are still too hot. Aim for shady woods ... amazing how the temp drops!

🧠 Brain work - Sniff games, training, scatter feeding etc can help tire dogs without overheating.

💧 Lots of bowls of fresh water in shady spots in the house and garden.
💧 Burleigh LOVES drinking fresh water - I make sure he sees me fill up the bowl ...
💧 Adding bone broth into some of their water bowls ... a great way of finding out if they like it ...
💧 Adding water to their food is another way to help hydrate.

🧊 Cooling Ideas - Cooling mats, damp towels, paddling pools, frozen enrichment toys, lick mats or stuffed Kongs can really help.

🍗 Ensure you allow food items to be part of their daily food intake to avoid weight gain. They will need LESS food in the heat, so reduce daily amounts overall.

🏡 VIP Cool Lounge - Close curtains/blinds to create a cool VIP area ... putting enrichment items here will make it a fun place to be!

🐕 Pay special attention to flat-faced, puppies, older, overweight & very fluffy dogs as they often struggle more and cannot regulate their body temps as well.

🌊 Swimming can be good BUT tired dogs can still overdo it in hot weather.

Always know the signs of heatstroke such as
⚠️ excessive panting
⚠️ bright red gums
⚠️ vomiting
⚠️ collapse
⚠️ confusion or weakness
⚠️ wobbliness
⚠️ excessive drooling

If you’re worried, contact your vet immediately.
