Here we go again ๐ฅต๐ก๏ธโ๏ธ
A different post form me now as It's been a tough few weeks and more! โน๏ธ
Weeks full of obsessively checking the forecast, hourly, daily, staying up late, getting up early, to make the best, safest, fairest decision I can. Rearranging schedules, moving walks earlier or later, cancelling, swapping to house visits and trying my best to make sure every dog stays safe and happy, with every method and resource I possibly can.
Honestly, It's tough, not just because of the change of working hours, or extra admin, but because there is this constant feeling that you're letting people down, that you're not doing enough, or getting it right, no matter how hard you're trying.
Worried people think you are being awkward or lazy.
Having the pressure of the public perception as every move you make is so critically judged.
The early mornings and the late evenings spent walking when it's finally safe.
The hours spent trying to make everything work.
The thinking you have it and then boom out and about you have to change last minute.
For weeks now feeling like I am constantly cancelling, constantly apologising, constantly changing and constantly worrying that I am not doing enough or could I do more.
But knowing deep down I AM, I am adapting to this climate change, like nothing I have experienced in my 6 years and I AM keeping the dogs safe, and making that priority over anything.
Some People talk about the financial hit professional dog walkers take, but believe me that becomes bottom of the pile as we just want them to be safe and happy and want our customers to feel safe and content with what we are doing.
So I want to take the time to thank all my wonderful PAWrents who have been patient, understanding and supportive during this weather, actually trust me and my decisions, support me with kind words, cool drinks, my heatwave headaches ๐คฃ๐คฏ, working together to prioritise all our doggies in the work family, thinking of me financially, I honestly am blown away and appreciate you ALL so very much ๐ฅน๐ฅน๐ฅน๐ฅน๐ฅน๐ฅน๐ฅน
And to all professional dog walkers, who are doing all you can and more, be proud of yourselves ๐ซถ this year has been a tough one but we love and treat them like our own, and we maybe feeling all the above but actually all we are doing is putting them and their health and safety and happiness first and thatโs all that matters ๐ซถ๐๐ธ๐พ
