The Isle of Wight Reptilarium

The Isle of Wight Reptilarium The Isle of Wight Reptilarium is an all weather attraction on the Isle of Wight set in the building of Fort Victoria country park.

The Isle of Wight Reptilarium is an all weather tourist attraction based on the Isle of Wight, Situated at the site of the old Marine Aquarium at Fort Victoria Country Park, Freshwater,

Our exhibit of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates of the world will be in naturalistic themed displays that explore the biomes these animals inhabit, we want to educate the public to the threats these animal

s face in the wild as well as our native herpetofauna that can be found on our doorstep in the adjacent country park. We are a small indoor, chargeable exhibit, that will take around 1.5 hours to explore (if you look at all the animals), we have live Reptiles, Amphibians and invertebrates on display to educate and inspire our visitors,

We really want to help the future generations and currently there is a shortage of suitable work experience placements on the Island for students looking to study Animal Care, we would like to provide much needed placements as well as traineeships and apprenticeships in conjunction with Island Training providers so we can inspire and enthuse the next generations of conservationists and animal care professionals, giving them basic work and animal care skills they can carry forward onto greater things. We also incorporate a Sanctuary for unwanted freshwater turtles that have been acquired as pets but now grown too large to be housed correctly at home,

Thank you for taking the time to support us and we look forward to welcoming you to the Isle of Wight Reptilarium!

🦎 Curious about those colorful little cups in our enclosures?

We get asked about them all the time! They are specialized jelly pots made specifically for reptiles.

They are packed with essential vitamins, moisture, and fruit flavors that our residents absolutely love.

Here's one of our gargoyle geckos enjoying a sweet treat! πŸ‘‡

Meet the newest, oddest, and absolute wood-iest resident at the Isle of Wight Reptilarium! 🦎✨
This lovely stick lady was handcrafted by the legendary Crafty Caulkhead before wandering off on her own wild island adventure.
Luckily, she was found as a stray and we just couldn't resist adopting her into our reptile family.
The only problem? She doesn't have a name yet!
We need your help to give her the perfect title.
For just Β£1 per entry, you can submit your best name suggestion.
Not only will you get the ultimate bragging rights if your name is chosen, but you will also be entered into a draw to win a FREE Family Ticket to visit us and see her in person!
All proceeds go directly toward the care of our animals.
Comment your suggestions below and pop into the Reptilarium to pay or click the link below to pay your Β£1 donation and pop us a message to add your suggestion.
Good luck! 🎟️πŸͺ΅

Happy 100th Birthday to the legendary Sir David Attenborough! πŸŒπŸ’πŸŽ‚

Today, we celebrate a century of wonder and a man who has brought the most extraordinary corners of our planet into our living rooms.

While he's famous for his adventures with gorillas and blue whales, David’s career has been deeply entwined with the world of reptiles from the very beginning.

Did you know:

*The First Presenter: David’s first on-screen break in the 1954 series Zoo Quest happened because the original presenter, reptile curator Jack Lester, fell ill.

*A Scaly Heritage: He was the first to capture the legendary Komodo dragon on film for a Western audience, braving a dangerous voyage to Indonesia to do it.

*Scientific Legacy: There are multiple reptiles named in his honour, including the flat lizard (Platysaurus attenboroughi) and even an extinct prehistoric marine reptile, the Attenborosaurus.

From his mesmerising tales of chameleons with their lightning-fast tongues to the "Jesus Christ lizard" running across water, Sir David has taught us that there is beauty and incredible innovation in every cold-blooded creature.

Thank you, Sir David, for 100 years of curiosity and for inspiring us all to look a little closer at the natural world. 🦎🌿✨
