🎆 FIREWORKS SEASON — CAN PLAY HELP?
Following on from my post about preparing dogs for fireworks, here’s another option that can work really well for some dogs.
If your dog is still able and willing to play when fireworks are going off, a favourite high-value toy can give them something positive to focus on and provide an outlet for some of that nervous energy.
Tug-E-Nuff have put together some useful firework survival tips and distraction ideas, including toys such as The Clam, Fauxtastic PowerBall Bungee Tug and Bright Fauxtastic Tug.
The important bit is to follow your dog’s lead. If they want to play, brilliant but if they’re too worried to engage, don’t push them. Give them somewhere safe to retreat, reduce the noise and flashes as much as you can, and let them choose what helps them feel secure.
