Did you know that on June the 19th the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 amended UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act and electronic communications law.

What this means to every pet business (it doesn't matter how small the business is) in the UK, we all have to comply.

Businesses must have a formal process for handling and logging any GDPR complaints as follows:

* Give clients a clear route to complain about their data use/breach.
* Formally acknowledge this complaint within 30 days.
* Investigate and keep a record of the case.
* Respond to the client and advise that they must use the above steps before they can escalate to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO)

Home From Home meet all the requirements for the new law and have a paid for, secure email and business domain. We are also registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) registration number ZC179360.

We have the required procedures in place and have updated all our forms accordingly.

All of our clients have been advised of the change and have updated their forms held with Home From Home. They have also been sent an electronic copy for their own records, so they are fully aware of the updated amendment to the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. Home From Home is fully compliant.

Always check with your provider that they are aware of the change in law and that they have steps in place to safeguard yourself and your data. This means secure emails and websites. Sadly Gmail, Hotmail etc and alike are not secure. Check they are registered with the ICO.

Remember this is now law.

This summarises the changes the DUAA makes to data protection law that may affect you if you’re an organisation using personal information.

Heatwave tips for all pets 🌡️

High temperatures can be dangerous for dogs, cats and small pets but you can do some simple things to keep them cool, comfortable and ultimately- safe in the dangerously high temperatures we are experiencing this week.

🚫 AVOID:
- Leaving your pet in a car, conservatory or closed space.
- Walking/letting out your pet during the hottest day. If you are unsure, do the pavement test (hold your hand on the surface for 5 seconds) if it's too hot for you, it's too hot for your pet.

✅ DO:
- Provide shade from the direct sun, provide fresh, clean water regularly.
- Provide cooling matts, or nibble friendly alternatives like tiles for small pets.
- Create a 'cool room' by using fans (kept safely out of reach), closing curtains, and ensuring there is good ventilation. For small pets, place frozen water bottles near housing so they can lean against them.

A fun field morning at the wonderful Gogway Dog Field. 🐾

A play date for the Home From Home doggies and their owners. 🐾

With the permission of Jo at Gogway Dog Field, Home From Home hired out the field for a couple of hours in the morning. 🐾

Obviously before it became too hot. 🐾
