Come along to collect my dogs for our morning walk. It was wonderful to see them so happy — wagging tails, offering high fives, or leaping into my lap the moment I opened the car door. I’m so grateful for these adorable pups who brighten my day from the very start.

This morning’s walk turned into a full‑blown photo and video shoot as my furry monarchs dived in water and climbed the hay bales and posed like they were launching a new Netflix series. Confidence levels: unmatched. Mud levels: moderate. Happiness levels: off the charts.

🐾 People often ask what makes a small doggy daycare different… 🐾

This isn’t about saying one type of daycare is better than another. Every dog is different, and every owner is looking for something that suits their dog’s individual needs.

But we thought it was worth celebrating what makes so many small, licensed doggy daycare providers so special.

Many of us are limited in the number of dogs we can care for under our local council licence. While that may mean we’re smaller, it also allows us to really get to know every dog as an individual—their personality, their routines, their little quirks and what makes them happiest.

Many small providers love getting out and exploring. Rather than visiting the same place every day, walks often take place in a variety of beautiful locations, carefully chosen to suit the weather, the season and the dogs themselves. New smells, new adventures and plenty of enrichment help keep every day exciting.

Most small daycare providers don’t just focus on keeping dogs busy—they focus on creating balance. Fun adventures, exercise and enrichment are often followed by time to relax, recharge and simply enjoy being dogs in a calm, familiar environment.

Smaller groups also make it easier to notice the little things. Changes in behaviour, wellbeing or confidence can often be spotted quickly, helping dogs stay happy, comfortable and settled. Carefully matched groups also encourage positive friendships and good social manners.

Running a small daycare isn’t about caring for as many dogs as possible. For many of us, it’s about building trust with owners, creating meaningful relationships with the dogs in our care and providing a safe, enriching environment where every dog is valued as an individual.

So this is simply a little appreciation post for the amazing small, licensed doggy daycare providers out there. Every day they pour their hearts into caring for your four-legged family members, often treating them as if they were their own.

This birthday isn’t just about candles and wishes.
It’s about celebrating the women who stood beside me through every chapter — the beautiful girlfriends who became like a family.
