Dogs have always been a huge part of my life, and I’ve always been happiest when I’m around them. Creating Holton-Blake The Canine Club with Warren has given me the opportunity to turn that love of dogs into something we can share with other owners.
Having owned and cared for dogs over many years, I know just how different every dog can be. Some want to be constantly on the go, others prefer to take things at their own pace, and some simply need a little more patience and reassurance before they feel comfortable.
That’s something that’s really important to me. I want to get to know each dog’s personality, their routines and all the little things that make them who they are, rather than treating every dog in exactly the same way.
I’ve also studied canine massage, which has given me a greater understanding of canine movement, muscles and general physical wellbeing. It’s knowledge that complements the way we approach exercise and care, particularly when looking after older dogs or those who benefit from a gentler, more considered approach.
I particularly enjoy spending time with our older dogs. As dogs reach their senior years, their needs change, but that doesn’t mean they stop enjoying getting outside, exploring and having fun. Sometimes they just need things adapted to suit them.
Whether I’m taking a dog for a walk, spending time with them at home or helping them enjoy one of our swimming sessions, I want them to feel safe, relaxed and happy in my company.
Above everything else, I know our dogs are part of our families. When somebody trusts us to look after theirs, that’s something I take very seriously – and I’ll always care for them with the same kindness and attention I’d want for our own.
