🐾 Come and say hello to Niamh & Daisy! 🐾

This Sunday, 6th September, the lovely team from Maybridge Hydrotherapy will be at the RSPCA Suffolk Central Open Day & Fun Dog Show at RSPCA Martlesham!

There’ll be lots going on, including fun dog classes, stalls, food and refreshments. If you’re heading along, make sure you stop by and say hello to Niamh and Daisy. They are both very knowledgeable and would love to answer any questions you may have about physiotherapy and hydrotherapy.

TODAY IS THE DAY!! 🥳🍔🍟

The Forge Kitchen will be at Whitworth Vets this evening from 5pm-9pm.

They will be serving up their delicious smashed burgers, loaded fries and a variety of cold drinks 😍

All food is subject to availability, therefore if The Forge team get low on stock, they may close earlier than 9pm. So make sure to get there early if possible to avoid missing out!

The Forge Kitchen have taken their business onto the road and are holding pop up events across the region, serving delicious food such as smashed burgers, dirty fried and mac & cheese! 🧀 🍔 🍟

Meet Milo, the 7 year old cat who came in recently for a procedure called a Perineal Urethrostomy 🖤🐾

Milo has been seen many times at the practice due to urinary obstructions (urethral obstruction). This is when a cat cannot pass urine and empty their bladder, therefore resulting in straining, severe pain and possible aggression when touched. This condition needs to be treated as an emergency since the results can be fatal ‼️

Primary causes of urinary obstructions include: urethral plugs, urinary stones, inflammation, muscle spasms, strictures and tumors.
Factors that can trigger or contribute to these causes include: being overweight, stress and anxiety, diet and dehydration.

This complex surgery performed by vet Katherine, involves removing the narrowest part of the urethra (the tube used to pass urine out of the body) and creating a new shorter and wider opening. Therefore, allowing urine to flow more easily and decreasing the chance of future urinary obstructions.

Milo is continuing his recovery at home with his family and has strict instructions to keep his surgical cone on and to stay indoors (don’t think Milo will be too happy about that).

Female tabby, no collar or microchip present - found near the roundabout by The Sausage Shop in Trimley St Martin.

🌱 It’s that time of year again for those pesky grass seeds!! 🌾

Meet Dudley, the 1 year old cockerpoo 🐾🖤

Dudley came to see us recently with sudden onset of head shaking. This is normally a sign we see from an ear infection or a foreign body within the ear, such as a grass seed 🌱

When checking inside Dudley’s ears, there was more discomfort with his right ear and more redness. This raised our suspicions of a possible grass seed. We opted for Dudley to be admitted for sedation since this allows us to thoroughly check his ears and remove any grass seeds without pain and discomfort.

Once Dudley was under sedation, the vets found a large grass seed stuck in his right ear canal. This was safely removed and Dudley woke up well from his sedation.

Meet Bella, the 11 year old girl who came in recently for 3 mammary masses to be removed 🖤🐾

Bella was started on antibiotics for a few days prior to her surgery since the masses were showing signs of infection. This helps to clear the infection from the surgical site before operating, therefore reducing the chance of potential post op complications.

Bella did amazingly well on the day of her surgery. Having not 1, but 3 masses removed is a lot for any pet to undertake! But she was smiling and wagging her tail the whole time 😍
Vet Katherine did a great job with the surgery and the nursing team made sure Bella was well looked after during her stay.

Due to the size and location of the surgical sites, there was a risk of swelling and bruising post surgery. Therefore, Bella was given strict instructions to have very minimal exercise during her recovery. Her owner did amazing in following these instructions, even though Bella wasn’t too keen on the lack of walks.

We are happy to say Bella has recovered incredibly well from her surgery. She is happy to be back to her normal walks and is loving life.

Well done Bella, what a star ⭐️
