Message me now for support 😊 He's an ex-street dog from Bosnia and came to me with a handful of quirks, worries and opinions! I've been learning all about him through his guidance and the guidance of my Level 4 Advanced Canine Behaviour Course with the British College of Canine Studies. This is based on what I've learned personally, and always consider that your situation may vary. Dogs are incredibly nuanced with big personalities, and they're all as individual as we are. 🐾

Dog Club member win 👏👏👏

Sam & Chris have been working hard on recall with Chief & Marcy, their Pointers.

If you have ever met a Pointer you will know this is no easy feat!!! 🤣

Brilliant job, AND with distractions, super proud of these guys they have worked incredibly hard and are so fantastic with their dogs. Just LOOK at that relationship 🙌

Bonus win - they went to Paws in the Park this year and Marcy had a confident wagging tail! 🥹

This is a huge change to the tucked, nervous tail she would have had some time ago in this type of environment.

Love these confident, happy dogs!!

Sometimes I play this game with my clients. It's a brilliant way to check if we are being realistic. I think we are ALL guilty sometimes of losing sight of the fact our dogs are just dogs doing doggy things and being their doggy selves.

And I don't mean "just dogs" in the sense that they aren't your whole world (and mine). Dogs are bloody amazing.

But they probably aren't doing half the things we think they are - because they simply don't have the need, capacity or want to do half of that stuff.

A dog's needs of safety, care and comfort are pretty straightforward once we know what we're doing, and they certainly aren't going around keeping score of how often we upset them, or working out how to manipulate us next.

If you catch yourself saying something potentially absurd about your dog, try replacing them with "pigeon" to test yourself.

Ok, your turn - what's the most absurd thing you have seen or heard about dogs?

Replace "dog" with "pigeon" in the comments 🐦

Firstly, I think it's the most amazing thing when I find out Dog Club members are real life friends 🥹

Secondly when they have amazing wins like this it is the cherry on top 😎

"We visited Lauren & Theo last week and went for a walk. Bertie would usually react to all dogs that he would see...

He only had a few small barks at dogs when we first got out of the car but after that any dogs we walked passed or watched go by he had no reactions!

Bertie doesn't usually do well in new places but he took it all in his stride. So proud of him and of course proud of Theo too 🥰"

My Top 3 Hidden Gems in the Dog Club

Of course, there are the highlights - the Reactivity Course or Separation Anxiety Course are amazing areas of the Dog Club you’ll have spotted.

And I'm always telling people about the fantastic video on how dogs move with Opal Veterinary Physiotherapy

But what are you yet to explore?

There lots much to learn and try - I’ll bet some things you will wish you’d known for your previous dogs (I know there is SO much I wish I knew!) but thank goodness we are all on this journey now, right?

1 - Behavioural Loops

Applicable to EVERY behaviour, Behavioural Loops are basically the only dog training advice you will ever need!

Just kidding obvs, otherwise I’d be out of a job. But if you’re a human psychologist, you’ll know what I mean - these are basically the key.

2 - Energy vs Stress Arousal

INSTANTLY understand your:

- Reactive dog
- Over-excited dog
- dog

I know this live session was kind of life-changing for those who watched it live, so make sure you catch the recording.

3 - Dog Body Language Examples

Learn what real dogs are saying to each other while watching videso of them interact.

This stuff is like gold-dust - watch break downs of canine behaviour translated by a canine behaviourist!

After the Dog Club Live Session on helping our dogs settle in public places (and feel genuinely relaxed), I've had lots of pictures of you guys putting the method into practice, and it's lovely to see relaxed doggies enjoying some down time!

A HUGE well done for giving it a try!

Always nice to see a couple of previously highly reactive dogs doing so well at this too - a testament to just how far you have come and how much you have helped them 🥰
