🚨 Important Update: XL Bully Law Changes 🚨

We want to make the public aware of recent legal changes regarding XL Bully dogs in the UK

📌 What’s changed?
✔️ Mandatory Insurance
From the 1st July 2026, XL bully owners will no longer be required to hold 3rd party public liability insurance for their XL bully

✔️ Supervision Around Children
From 1st November 2026, children under the age of 12 must not be left unsupervised with an XL bully in a private place (e.g home or garden). A responsible adult must be present at all times to ensure safety.

🤷‍♀️Why has this changed?
Dog's Trust were the only organisation offering 3rd party public liability insurance to XL bully since their ban in 2024. Due to increased financial pressures, Dog's Trust announced that they would no longer be offering 3rd party public liability insurance as part of the member benefits from 1st July 2026. As soon as they made this difficult decision they have been pushing the government bodies to find a solution as the law state XL bullies must have this insurance or face euthanasia.
The government's solution... remove the requirement for insurance

⚠️What does this mean for XL bully owners?
Although this has settled concerns around owners facing conviction and dogs being euthanised due to lack of insurance options available, this does leave XL bullies vulnerable. With no legal requirement for 3rd party insurance, insurers have no pressure on them to provide this product to XL bullies therefore leaving XL bully owners at high financial risk by owning these dogs.

Always supervise interactions between XL bullies and under 12s
Stay informed on current regulations

🐾 Why do puppies jump up? 🐶

If your puppy turns into a bouncing machine every time you walk in the room… you’re not alone 😅

Jumping up is completely natural for puppies, and it usually comes down to a few simple reasons:

✨ They’re excited to see you – you’re their favourite person!
✨ They want attention (and jumping works!)
✨ They’re trying to get closer to your face to greet you
✨ They haven’t learned an alternative behaviour yet

The tricky part?
If jumping gets them attention, even telling them “no” can accidentally reinforce the behaviour.

The good news is it’s easy to start improving with the right approach 💛

✔️ Ignore the jumping (no eye contact, no talking, no touching)
✔️ Reward calm behaviour or four paws on the floor
✔️ Teach an alternative like “sit” for greetings
✔️ Be consistent – everyone in the household needs to follow the same rules

Remember, your puppy isn’t being naughty, they’re just being a puppy who hasn’t learned the rules yet 🐾
