Slightly devastated to say that Felice and I will not be attending this year’s BD National Championships.
After showing signs of discomfort, which was quickly followed up by both a dentist and vet visit, it has been found that Felice potentially has something embedded in her gum, right where the bit sits. The current prognosis is that she will need to undergo surgery at an equine hospital to have it removed. This will be done as soon as possible, but unfortunately means we are unable to ride or compete just days before what would have been her very first Nationals.
News like this is incredibly disappointing, especially when you take into consideration all the time, effort and preparation that has gone into getting us here. However, my horses’ health, wellbeing and welfare will always, always come first. It is in Felice’s best interest that we withdraw, get her treated and give her the time she needs to recover. There will always be another day to compete.
We have had such a fantastic summer season together, and I’m incredibly grateful that the outlook seems promising and that her recovery time should hopefully be minimal.
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us, cheered us on and followed our journey. I really wish we could have shown you what we were capable of at Nationals, but unfortunately it will have to wait for another day.
For now, Felice comes first ❤️🩹🐴
