Separation anxiety signs (pacing, whining, scratching)? Start with micro-absences:
1) Pick up keys/put shoes on… then sit back down (no leaving)
2) Repeat until it’s boring
3) Step out for 10–30 seconds, return calmly
4) Slowly build time up (tiny increases)
You’re teaching: departures and returns are normal and low-drama.
