☀️🐾 Warm Weather Safety for Pets 🐾☀️
As temperatures rise, it’s important to help all our furry friends stay safe and comfortable.
🐶 Dogs
• Walk during the cooler parts of the day (early morning or evening)
• Always carry fresh water
• Avoid hot pavements – if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws!
• Never leave your dog in a parked car, even for a few minutes
🐱 Cats
• Ensure they have access to shade and fresh water at all times
• Keep an eye on elderly, overweight, or flat-faced cats, who may struggle more in the heat
• Watch for signs of heat stress such as panting, drooling, or lethargy
🐰🐹 Rabbits, Guinea Pigs & Small Furries
• Move hutches and enclosures out of direct sunlight
• Provide plenty of shade and ventilation
• Offer cool water and fresh vegetables with high water content
• Cooling mats, frozen water bottles wrapped in towels, or ceramic tiles can help them stay comfortable
⚠️ Signs of Heatstroke in Any Pet
Excessive panting, drooling, weakness, confusion, vomiting, collapse, or seizures.
If you suspect heatstroke, move your pet to a cool area, offer small amounts of water, and contact us immediately for advice!
Let’s keep all our pets safe and happy this summer! ☀️❤️🐾
