What has happened to the dog industry? 💔
I remember walking dogs before Covid, and although there was the occasional negativity on line, it was nothing like it is now.
Back then, the community felt supportive. I had such a huge following, and other dog professionals were always encouraging — especially when it came to my training posts with my sheep, Chopsy.
People genuinely enjoyed seeing dogs thrive.
No one cared about where you walked, unless they wanted to try it out for themselves.
No one obsessed over numbers of dogs walked at one time.
No one questioned whether you had someone helping you.
What mattered was simple:
Were the dogs happy?
Were they safe, loved, and cared for?
Did the clients feel at ease knowing their dogs were having the best time possible?
That’s what this industry used to be about.
These days, it feels like there’s always a handful of people ready to nitpick something without knowing the full story.
There’s always someone trying to tear you down, assuming they know exactly how you run your business based on one photo, one video, or one moment online.
This isn't about one negative comment. It's an ongoing hammering, and I know I'm not the only person/Dog buiness who's been on the receiving end of it. People can be relentless!!
A few years ago, I stepped away from my business page because mentally, I wasn’t okay. The constant negativity got to me more than people realised. I stopped posting publicly and kept everything private, clients only.
And honestly, that was such a shame — not just for me, but for the people who genuinely loved my posts, supported my work, and enjoyed following the dogs’ journeys as well as my dream team.
But I’m making a comeback.
This time, I feel mentally stronger, more confident in what I’ve built, and I will not tolerate unnecessary negativity anymore.
My clients know the level of care their dogs receive.
They trust the team I’ve built.
They see the love, structure, care, and happiness behind the scenes every single day.
I stay in contact with my local council to keep updated on any changes, I keep my insurance and business requirements up to date, and I work hard to keep my buiness running smoothly.
So if you don’t like how I do things, that’s absolutely fine — but keep scrolling.
Because at the end of the day, the dogs are happy, the clients are happy, and that’s what truly matters. 🐾
On that note, I appologise for those that were effected by the negative comments yesterday, so, lets give Darren a heart felt send of shall we??
Good bye Darren, I hope you cheer up one day, wishing you all the best in life 👋
